Book excerpt: The book offers a thorough introduction to machine vision. It is organized in two parts. The first part covers the image acquisition, which is the crucial component of most automated visual inspection systems. All important methods are described in great detail and are presented with a reasoned structure. The second part deals with the modeling and processing of image signals and pays particular regard to methods, which are relevant for automated visual inspection.
Book Synopsis Machine Vision for Inspection and Measurement by : Herbert Freeman
Download or read book Machine Vision for Inspection and Measurement written by Herbert Freeman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Machine Vision for Inspection and Measurement contains the proceedings of the Second Annual Workshop on Machine Vision sponsored by the Center for Computer Aids for Industrial Productivity (CAIP) at Rutgers University and held on April 25-26, 1988 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The papers explore the application of machine vision to inspection and measurement and cover topics such as the problem of object-pose estimation and depth recovery through inverse optics. The use of machine vision techniques in inspection of integrated circuits and semiconductor wafers is also discussed. Comprised of 11 chapters, this book opens with the problem of using fine-grained parallel machines for VLSI inspection. The discussion then turns to a variety of real-life applications of machine vision, including inspection of integrated circuits, semiconductor wafers, TV-tube glass, and mechanical parts. The use of machine vision to measure the curvature of the human cornea for vision correction and contact lens fitting purposes is also considered. The remaining chapters focus on motion estimation from stereo sequences using orthographic-view algorithms; photometric sampling for determining surface shape and reflectance; and efficient depth recovery by means of inverse optics. A chapter addresses the question of whether the industry is ready for machine vision and comes up with some optimistic predictions. This monograph will be of interest to practitioners in the fields of computer science and applied mathematics.

Book Synopsis An Intelligent Inspection Planning System for Prismatic Parts on CMMs by : Slavenko M. Stojadinović
Download or read book An Intelligent Inspection Planning System for Prismatic Parts on CMMs written by Slavenko M. Stojadinović and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-09 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines an intelligent system for the inspection planning of prismatic parts on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The content focuses on four main elements: the engineering ontology, the model of inspection planning for prismatic parts on CMMs, the optimisation model of the measuring path based on an ant-colony approach, and the model of probe configuration and setup planning based on a genetic algorithm. The model of inspection planning for CMMs developed here addresses inspection feature construction, the sampling strategy, probe accessibility analysis, automated collision-free operation, and probe path planning. The proposed model offers a novel approach to intelligent inspection, while also minimizing human involvement (and thus the risk of human error) through intelligent planning of the probe configuration and part setup. The advantages of this approach include: reduced preparation times due to the automatic generation of a measuring protocol; potential optimisation of the measuring probe path, i.e., less time needed for the actual measurement; and increased planning process autonomy through minimal human involvement in the setup analysis and probe configuration.

Download or read book Computer-Aided Inspection Planning written by Abdulrahman Al-Ahmari and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-12-19 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inspection process is one of the most important steps in manufacturing industries because it safeguards high quality products and customer satisfaction. Manual inspection may not provide the desired accuracy. This book introduces and implements a new methodology and develops the supporting technologies for automated inspection planning based on Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. It also provides and implements an efficient link for automated operation based on Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). The link’s output is a DMIS code programming file based on the inspection planning table that is executed on CMM.
