Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Themenbereich interne und externe Vernetzung von Endgeräten in Privathaushalten vor dem Hintergrund der Konvergenztrends bzgl. der involvierten Technologien als theoretischem Ausgangspunkt. Hierbei zeichnet sich allmählich der Trend ab, daß bestehende Dienste (wie z.B. Sprach-, Onlinedienste oder Internet) konvergieren, d.h., diese werden zukünftig nicht nur über das Telefonnetz verfügbar sein, sondern auch über alternative Netzinfrastrukturen. Dazu gehören das Breitbandkabelnetz, die Satellitenkommunikation, Funknetze oder auch das Stromnetz. Kennzeichnend für bereits angebotene, aber auch neue Anwendungen und Dienste ist der steigende Bandbreitenbedarf. Ein weiterer Trend zeichnet sich im Rahmen der Konvergenz von Internet und Fernsehen ab. Hierbei erfolgt die Visualisierung der Internetseiten und die Nutzung des Angebots über den Fernseher, wobei der physikalische Zugang zum Internet beispielsweise über eine Set-top-box oder über ein DVD-Abspielgerät (mit Kommunikationszusatzfunktion) realisiert wird. Die Nutzung von Onlinemedien mit unterschiedlichen Endgeräten und an verschiedenen Orten im Privathaushalt (z.B. zukünftig möglicherweise auch in der Küche) führt zu Entwicklungen von hausinternen Netzwerken, die, über eine Netzwerkschnittstelle (Gateway) verbunden, eine effektive Anbindung an die Zugangsnetze gewährleisten. Darüber hinaus gibt es Bestrebungen, IuK-Technologie in alle elektronischen Geräte der sogenannten Braunen- bzw. Weißen-Ware und in die Haustechnologie zu integrieren, die auf dem Internet-Protokoll (IP) basiert, um Kommunikationsdienste zur Gerätesteuerung bzw. -wartung oder zur Übertragung von Informationen anzubieten. Diese Trendentwicklungen bilden die Grundlage für eine empirische Untersuchung in Form einer Expertenbefragung, wobei die beiden Ausprägungen technologische Infrastruktur und Nutzung des mit Hilfe der Technologie vermittelten Angebots betrachtet werden, um zukünftige Entwicklungspfade aufzuzeigen. Somit werden einerseits die zukünftigen technologischen Entwicklungen auf deren Bedeutung und Akzeptanzpotentiale hinterfragt. Hierzu zählen die breitbandigen Zugangstechnologien, die technischen Voraussetzungen der Endgeräte, die Grade der hausinternen Vernetzung sowie die Entwicklungen zur Authentifizierung und Sicherheit in Netzwerken.
