Die Anpassung der Unternehmen, wie sie bisher erfolgte, reicht nicht aus, um mit der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung standzuhalten. Die Lösung dieses Problems kann im Schlagwort des organisationalen Lernens gefunden werden. Dieses Lernen ist ein immer wiederkehrender bzw. kontinuierlich ablaufender Prozess. Aufgrund schneller Veränderungen der inneren und äußeren Umwelt des Unternehmens sowie dauerhaft wechselnder Anforderungen muss es als wesentlicher Bestandteil angesehen werden, dem eine wichtige Bedeutung zuzusprechen ist. Doch was sind die Auslöser dieses Lernens? Wodurch beginnt in einem Unternehmen organisationales Lernen? Diese Fragestellungen sind der Ausgangspunkt für die vorliegende Seminararbeit. Nach einer einführenden Grundlagenerläuterung sollen verschiedene mögliche Auslöser beschrieben werden. Diese sind unterteilt in Auslöser, die durch Störungen der Geschäftstätigkeit entstehen und solche, die im Rahmen der gewöhnlichen Geschäftstätigkeit auftreten. Auch Organisationsmitglieder spielen eine große Rolle, denn das Lernen der Organisation ist abhängig von seinen Mitgliedern. Schließlich werden die Voraussetzungen für ein Lernen der Organisation erläutert und geklärt, welche Störfaktoren auftreten können, die das Lernen der Organisation erschweren oder verhindern. In einem abschließenden Fazit folgt eine kritische Hinterfragung der genannten Faktoren, die Lernen auslösen können.

Prange 2002, S.29) reges Interesse in der Berufs- und Betriebspädagogik gefunden. Diese Idee eines Lernens in und von Organisationen konnte sich in den folgenden Jahren mehr und mehr durchsetzen, so dass ab Ende der 70er Jahre bis hinein in die frühen 90er Jahre unzählige Publikationen zu dem Thema veröffentlicht wurden. Seit ungefähr 1995 nimmt die Anzahl dieser Veröffentlichungen wieder ab und es findet eine Verschiebung der Fokussierung von dem organisationalem Lernen zu dem Begriff des Wissensmanagements statt. Dieses ausgearbeitete Referat greift die Diskussion um die Abgrenzung bzw. den Zusammenhang von individuellen und organisationalen Lernen auf. Den Hintergrund stellt die Frage „Wer lernt beim organisationalen Lernen bzw. wie kann eine Organisation lernen?“ dar. Diese Fragestellung umschließt das Problem, ob eine Organisation als „ein lebendiger Organismus“ (Nonaka, S.87) angesehen werden kann. In dieser Metapher müsste eine Organisation unabhängig von den Lernprozessen der Organisationsmitglieder lernen können. Als Gegensatz hierzu könnte organisationales Lernen ein organisationsweites Lernen darstellen, das allerdings aus individuellen Lernprozessen besteht.
