Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Che storia!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis 13 maggio 81: tre spari contro il Papa by : Ilario Salvatore Martella
Download or read book 13 maggio 81: tre spari contro il Papa written by Ilario Salvatore Martella and published by Ponte alle Grazie. This book was released on 2011-04-28T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Darkest Sides of Politics, I by : Jeffrey M. Bale
Download or read book The Darkest Sides of Politics, I written by Jeffrey M. Bale and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-04 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines a wide array of phenomena that arguably constitute the most noxious, extreme, terrifying, murderous, secretive, authoritarian, and/or anti-democratic aspects of national and international politics. Scholars should not ignore these "dark sides" of politics, however unpleasant they may be, since they influence the world in a multitude of harmful ways. The first volume in this two-volume collection focuses on the history of underground neo-fascist networks in the post-World War II era; neo-fascist paramilitary and terrorist groups operating in Europe and Latin America in the 1960s and 1970s; and the manipulation of those and other terrorist organizations by the security forces of various states, both authoritarian and democratic. A range of global case studies are included, all of which focus on the lesser known activities of certain secular extremist milieus. This collection should prove to be essential reading for students and researchers interested in understanding seemingly arcane but nonetheless important dimensions of recent historical and contemporary politics.
Book Synopsis The Presidency of James Earl Carter Junior by : Silvio Berardi
Download or read book The Presidency of James Earl Carter Junior written by Silvio Berardi and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2016-12-30 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the International Conference The Presidency of James Earl Carter Junior. Between Reformism, Pacifism and Human Rights, held in Rome on April 28, 2016, at the Institute Santa Maria in Aquiro, with the Senate of the Italian Republic patronage. Forty years after his election to the White House, it was deemed necessary to reflect on the political activity of a President little considered, until now, by the Italian historiography. The Carter Presidency, inspired since its inception by a predominant religious sentiment, was marked by a clear break with the past. Themes such as the respect for human rights, dialogue with the historic Soviet enemy, pacifism as a weapon of the Middle East problem resolution, industrial development through a sustainable approach were introduced right from the thirty-ninth occupant of the White House. At the presidential elections of 1980, which saw him clash with the Republican Ronald Reagan, Carter paid especially the failures of his reform and economic policy: the US economic difficulties and the significant increase in the unemployment rate were the main reasons that cost him his reelection. Reformism, pacifism, respect for human rights: concepts that would continue to inspire Carter’s policy, despite the defeat against Reagan.
Download or read book Papes et Papauté written by Agnès Morini and published by Université de Saint-Etienne. This book was released on 2013-11-12 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Day of the Assassins by : Michael Burleigh
Download or read book Day of the Assassins written by Michael Burleigh and published by Pan Macmillan. This book was released on 2021-05-27 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Written with Burleigh’s characteristic brio, with pithy summaries of historical moments (he is brilliant on the Americans in Vietnam, for example) and full of surprising vignettes’ – The Times ’Book of the Week’ In Day of the Assassins, acclaimed historian Michael Burleigh examines assassination as a special category of political violence and asks whether, like a contagious disease, it can be catching. Focusing chiefly on the last century and a half, Burleigh takes readers from Europe, Russia, Israel and the United States to the Congo, India, Iran, Laos, Rwanda, South Africa and Vietnam. And, as we travel, we revisit notable assassinations, among them Leon Trotsky, Hendrik Verwoerd, Juvénal Habyarimana, Indira Gandhi, Yitzhak Rabin and Jamal Khashoggi. Combining human drama, questions of political morality and the sheer randomness of events, Day of the Assassins is a riveting insight into the politics of violence. ‘Brilliant and timely . . . Our world today is as dangerous and mixed-up as it has ever been. Luckily we have Michael Burleigh to help us make sense of it.’ – Mail on Sunday
