Book Synopsis Symmetric and Asymmetric Distributions by : Emilio Gómez Déniz
Download or read book Symmetric and Asymmetric Distributions written by Emilio Gómez Déniz and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-21 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the advances and abilities of computer software have substantially increased the number of scientific publications that seek to introduce new probabilistic modelling frameworks, including continuous and discrete approaches, and univariate and multivariate models. Many of these theoretical and applied statistical works are related to distributions that try to break the symmetry of the normal distribution and other similar symmetric models, mainly using Azzalini's scheme. This strategy uses a symmetric distribution as a baseline case, then an extra parameter is added to the parent model to control the skewness of the new family of probability distributions. The most widespread and popular model is the one based on the normal distribution that produces the skewed normal distribution. In this Special Issue on symmetric and asymmetric distributions, works related to this topic are presented, as well as theoretical and applied proposals that have connections with and implications for this topic. Immediate applications of this line of work include different scenarios such as economics, environmental sciences, biometrics, engineering, health, etc. This Special Issue comprises nine works that follow this methodology derived using a simple process while retaining the rigor that the subject deserves. Readers of this Issue will surely find future lines of work that will enable them to achieve fruitful research results.

Book Synopsis Gribov-90 Memorial Volume: Field Theory, Symmetry, And Related Topics - Proceedings Of The Memorial Workshop Devoted To The 90th Birthday Of V N Gribov by : Yuri L Dokshitzer
Download or read book Gribov-90 Memorial Volume: Field Theory, Symmetry, And Related Topics - Proceedings Of The Memorial Workshop Devoted To The 90th Birthday Of V N Gribov written by Yuri L Dokshitzer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vladimir Naumovich Gribov is one of the creators of modern theoretical physics. The concepts and methods that Gribov has developed in the second half of the 20th century became cornerstones of the physics of high energy hadron interactions (relativistic theory of complex angular momenta, a notion of the vacuum pole — Pomeron, effective reggeon field theory), condensed matter physics (critical phenomena), neutrino oscillations, and nuclear physics. His unmatched insights into the nature of the quantum field theory helped to elucidate, in particular, the origin of classical solutions (instantons), quantum anomalies, specific problems in quantization of non-Abelian fields (Gribov anomalies, Gribov horizon), and the role of light quarks in the color confinement phenomenon. The Memorial Workshop devoted to Gribov's 90th birthday was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020; however, this did not deter the collection of many new studies in challenging theoretical physics problems across a broad variety of topics, and shared memories about their colleague, great teacher and friend. The contributions of this memorial volume affirms the everlasting impact of Gribov's scientific heritage upon the physics of the 21st century.

The latest results on the synthesis of new superheavy elements are also provided, and existing detecting devices and accelerators of exotic nuclei, as well as future projects for the creation of similar set-ups, are presented.
Book Synopsis In The Intermissions: Collected Works On Research Into The Essentials Of Theoretical Physics In R by : Yuri A Trutnev
Download or read book In The Intermissions: Collected Works On Research Into The Essentials Of Theoretical Physics In R written by Yuri A Trutnev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-11-23 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an account of the creative work of theorists at the largest Soviet secret laboratory, now the Russian Federal Nuclear Center at Arzamas-16, and concrete situations where some famous results on the essentials of theoretical physics emerged, so to speak, in the intermissions of the quest for bombs. The collection contains about 30 papers with brief comments. Some of them have received international recognition. But few people can conceive where they were written, since the publication of a paper by a secret physicist in a Soviet journal was supported by fictitious affiliations. Other papers are less well known, particularly because Soviet journals were not always translated into European languages. However, pioneer results contained in them merit more attention.
Book Synopsis Symmetric Fertilization of the Individual by : Yuri Romashev
Download or read book Symmetric Fertilization of the Individual written by Yuri Romashev and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2024-01-05 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you want to have sex and make a baby whenever and with whomever you want? Do you give a lot of thought to choosing a partner and the moment of conception, taking the natural order of things into consideration including the cosmic and astronomic laws, and be part of the ‘symmetric organization of human reproduction’? Yuri Romashev is the first author to tackle this topic and discover the truth about multifarious modern conventions and myths. What exactly is love? And the prince on the white horse? Junk logic? The same holds true of the partner choice and mating urge inspired by religious irrationality and other group pressures. Romashev expects this topic to remain of interest for years to come. Certainly, as long as most babies are conceived in an intense emotional outburst or in response to outdated traditions. He proposes a solution, a new calendar system, a new timetable with responses to essential questions like Who is destined to be the true partner? What is the right time for conception? and What is symmetric fertilization of the individual? A surprising text awaits the reader filled with intriguing and hitherto hidden knowledge, for example about hidden symmetry and what most do not yet know about the Gregorian calendar created in 1582. What is the symbol of our life that is hidden in the 365-day Gregorian calendar?!

Download or read book X-Ray Optics written by Yuri Shvyd'ko and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of x rays has moved in the forefront of science and technology in the second half of the 20th century. This progress has been greatly stimulated by the advent of synchrotron x-ray sources in the 1960s. The undulator-based synchrotron radiation sources which have appeared in the last decade of the 20th century gave a new impetus to such development. The brilliance of the x-ray sources has increased by 12 orders of magnitude in 40 years and this trend does not show any signs of stagnation. The future x-ray sources of the 21th century based on free-electron lasers driven by linear accelerators will provide sub-picosecond radiation pulses with by many orders of magnitude higher brilliance and full transverse coherence. The x-ray sources of the newest generation offer a possibility to realize more than ever before the great potential of x-ray optics and, as a consequence, to elaborate new sophisticated instrumentation with unprecedented resolution and eventually to move in new directions of research in x-ray technology, materials science, fundamental physics, life sciences, etc.

Book Synopsis Being and Contemporary Psychoanalysis by : Yuri Di Liberto
Download or read book Being and Contemporary Psychoanalysis written by Yuri Di Liberto and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-23 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how philosophical realisms relate to psychoanalytical conceptions of the Real, and in turn how the Lacanian framework challenges basic philosophical notions of object and reality. The author examines how contemporary psychoanalysis might respond to the question of ontology by taking advantage of the recent revitalization of realism in its speculative form. While the philosophical side of the debate makes a plea for an independent ontological consistency of the Real, this book proposes a Lacanian reassessment of the definition of the Real as ‘what is foreign to subjectivity itself’. In doing so, it reframes the question of the Real in terms of what is already there beneath the supposedly linguistic constitution of subjectivity. The book then goes on to engage the problem of cognition in the realm of Nature qua materiality, focusing on the centrality of the body as a linguistic-material hybrid. It argues that it is possible to re-establish the theoretical dignity of Ricoeur’s notion of ‘suspicion’, by building a dialogue between Lacanian psychoanalysis and three main domains of inquiry: desire, objects and bodily enjoyment. Borrowing from Piera Aulagnier’s theory of the Other as a word-bearer, it considers the genesis of desire and sense of reality both explainable through a hybrid framework which comprises psychoanalytical insights and material dynamics in a comprehensive account. This created theoretical space is an opportunity for both philosophers and psychoanalysts to rethink key Lacanian insights in light of the problem of the Real.
