Book excerpt: The Arrow Timber Supply Area covers over 750,000 hectares in the Nelson Forest Region of British Columbia. About half of the Area is productive forest land. This document sets out the guiding principles for determining the allowable annual cut for the Area and considers the factors used in that determination: the role of base-case timber supply forecasts, inventory information, growth and yield predictions, minimum harvestable ages, the land base contributing to the timber harvest, the harvest profile, restocked areas, regeneration delay, silvicultural systems, utilization standards, decay, waste and breakage, integrated resource management objectives, planning deferrals, harvest flow, mill requirements, local objectives, and disease and other losses. The appendices provide relevant sections of forestry legislation and a summary of public input on the Area's Timber Supply Review.
