Download or read book Around Town with Carol on Whitebriar Farm written by Carole Lokan-Moore and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over 300 stories of children and critters here on Whitebriar Farms could not be contained in one book, but is a "book set". There is no rhyme or reason to the "numbering", so don't think I missed anything, but even with mismatched numbers on chapters, realize they are in chronical order, as the experience came along. God has blessed me many times with a wonderful family and the ability to show people thru words, the wonderful life that can be had on a farm with animals and children. - Carole Lokan Moore, aka, The Farmer's Daughter

Creating a Christian Lifestyle, a comprehensive one-semester course, addresses significant issues teens will face as they choose among the many life paths they may travel--single or married life, religious life, or ordained ministry. The text examines themes common to all those paths: identity and autonomy, love, communication, sexuality, friendship, creativity and learning, work, money and possessions, and suffering and healing. Thought-provoking stories, poems, and personal examples lead students into discussion; engaging activities invite reflection, discussion, and journal writing. The full-color lively design and over 50 original artworks by students stimulate students' interest.

Book Synopsis The Cyborg Experiments by : Joanna Zylinska
Download or read book The Cyborg Experiments written by Joanna Zylinska and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2002-08-13 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cyborg Experiments analyzes the challenges posed to corporeality by techology. Taking as their starting point the work of the highly influential performance artists Orlan and Stelarc, the essays in this timely and important collection raise a number of questions in relation to new conceptions of embodiment, identity and otherness in the age of new technologies: Has the body become obsolete? Does transgender challenge traditional ideas of agency? Have we always been cyborgs? In addition to highlighting the playful character of digital aesthetics, the contributors investigate ethical issues concerning the ownership of our bodies and the experiments we perform on them. In this way the book explores how humanism, and ideas of "the human", have been placed under increasing scrutiny as a result of new developments in science, media and communications.Contributors:John Appleby, Rachel Armstrong, Fred Botting, Julie Clarke, Gary Hall, Chris Hables Gray, Meredith Jones, Orlan, Mark Poster, Jay Prosser, E. Book Synopsis Amending the Abject Body by : Deborah Caslav Covino
Download or read book Amending the Abject Body written by Deborah Caslav Covino and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Feminist theorists have often argued that aesthetic surgeries and body makeovers dehumanize and disempower women patients, whose efforts at self-improvement lead to their objectification. Amending the Abject Body proposes that although objectification is an important element in this phenomenon, the explosive growth of "makeover culture" can be understood as a process of both abjection (ridding ourselves of the unwanted) and identification (joining the community of what Julia Kristeva calls "clean and proper bodies"). Drawing from the advertisement and advocacy of body makeovers on television, in aesthetic surgery trade books, and in the print and Web-based marketing of face lifts, tummy tucks, and Botox injections, Deborah Caslav Covino articulates the relationship among objectification, abjection, and identification, and offers a fuller understanding of contemporary beauty-desire.
