Das Wirtschaftswachstum hielt bis in die 70ziger Jahre an. Vielen Menschen war es möglich an dieser „Aufstiegsgesellschaft“ zu partizipieren. Wer an diesem Reichtum doch nicht teilhaben konnte, den fing ein eng geknüpftes soziales Netz auf. Seit dem programmatischen Kurswechsel der Schröder - Regierung gibt es erhebliche Lücken in diesem Netz. Nach dem Bericht der Lebenslagen in Deutschland – Der 2. Armuts- und Reichtumsbericht der Bundesregierung 2005 (im Folgenden 2. Armutsbericht genannt) lebten 2003 deutschlandweit 11,1 Millionen Menschen (13,5% der Bevölkerung) in Armut. In Deutschland hat Armut ein anderes Gesicht als in Entwicklungsländern, in denen ein fehlendes soziales Netz zu einer lebensbedrohlichen Situation werden kann. Eine solch direkt bedrohliche Not herrscht zwar in Deutschland meist nicht, dennoch verbreitet sich zunehmend eine besorgniserregende Zahl armer Menschen in unserem reichen Land. Unter den Eindrücken der neusten, im November dieses Jahres veröffentlichen Studien des Deutschen Kinderhilfswerks steht besonders die ansteigende Kinderarmut im Fokus öffentlichen Interesses. Diese Hausarbeit will nach der Definition von Armut besonders Einblicke in folgende Aspekte geben: Bedeutung und Ursachen von Armut und die daraus resultierenden Folgen und Auswirkungen auf die Gesamtwirtschaft.
