Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This latest contribution to the understanding of the Bible’s final book will be a welcomed addition to anyone’s personal library. The author is quick to admit that Revelation has many strange images and perplexing elements. However, he is just as quick to stress that these images and elements are not the focus. The Apostle John, in writing this apocalyptic volume, centers the attention on Jesus Christ, the only hope for those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior, as well as those who still need to. Many people know Revelation for its striking, confusing symbolism. Many of these people would experience less confusion if they realized that most of these symbols are borrowed by the beloved disciple from other parts of the Bible. Manzano is faithful and responsible in allowing the Bible to interpret itself and establishing the Old Testament, especially the book of Daniel, as the foundation for decoding Revelation’s “mysteries.” As Bible prophecy continues to unfold, and this world continues to unravel like a cheap sweater, the frustration and turmoil that ensues will dissipate by the encouraging tone of this book. Readers are subsequently prompted to dive into Revelation and study afresh to reconnect with the Lamb/King around whom its messages revolve.

Book excerpt: Once again, the soldiers, officers, and commanders tell the story in this third volume of Kevin Campbell’s comprehensive work on the Gettysburg Campaign, Journey to Armageddon. The hardships, comradery, short rations, and the dance with the enemy’s bullets and shells are all here. Blistering sun, drenching rains, chocking dust, sticky mud, played out horses and men, and the high-level, often inharmoniousness communications between army commanders and their governments are presented in these pages. Fortunately, not all is despair and doom. Included are the sometimes-humorous interactions with the civilians met along their journey and the acrimony that frequently filled encounters between hungry soldiers and the administrators of the villages and towns they passed through. The tales told by these hardy men about the events of their existence are significant elements within the story of the Gettysburg Campaign, which author Kevin Campbell tells in a clear and concise prose. Most historians who write of the great crusade gloss over these events in favor of the more prominent proceedings in and around Gettysburg. These often-ignored events and much more are incorporated into his complete treatment of the Union and Confederate armies on their journey to Armageddon.

Book excerpt: A gripping account of the final period of the war in the Asia Pacific during WWII. The last installment of the War in the Far East trilogy, Asian Armageddon 1944-1945, continues and completes the narrative of the first two volumes, describing how a US-led coalition of nations battled Japan into submission through a series of cataclysmic encounters. Leyte Gulf, the biggest naval battle ever, was testimony to the paramount importance of controlling the ocean, as was the fact that the US Navy carried out the only successful submarine campaign in history, reducing Japan’s military and merchant navies to shadows of the former selves. Meanwhile, fighting continued in disparate geographic conditions on land, with the chaos of Imphal, the inferno of Manila, and the carnage of Iwo Jima forming some of the milestones on the bloody road to peace, sealed in Tokyo Bay in September 1945. The nuclear blasts at the end of the war made one observer feel as if he was ‘present at the creation.' Indeed, the participants in the events in the Asia Pacific in the mid-1940s were present at the creation of a new and dangerous world. It was a world where the stage was set for the Cold War and for international rivalries that last to this day, and a new constellation of powers emerged, with the outlines, just over the horizon, of a rising China. War in the Far East is a trilogy of books comprising a general history of World War II in the Asia Pacific. Unlike other histories on the conflict it goes into its deep origins, beginning long before Pearl Harbor, and encompasses a far wider group of actors to produce the most complete account yet written on the subject and the first truly international treatment of this epic conflict. Author Peter Harmsen weaves together complex events into a revealing and entertaining narrative, including facets of the war that may be unknown even to avid readers of World War II history, from the mass starvation that cost the lives of millions across China, Indochina, and India to the war in sub-arctic conditions in the Aleutians. Harmsen pieces together the full range of perspectives, reflecting what war was like both at the top and on the ground.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the deepest recesses of the human imagination every human heart aches to fulfill the story of God. The battle of eternity burns in the hearts of humanity. The story has been etched by the creator of life on the eternal soul of mankind. The epic tale demands to be expressed by the created being. The yearning for good to triumph over evil is played out in the imaginations of men and women from the beginning of time until now. It is the archetypal battle of life and death and the stakes are eternal. The expression of the story takes on as many forms as there are human beings in the history of the world. The heart of man plays both sides of the story, reveling as the victorious warrior or feigning the dying breath of a sacrificial king. Men seek glory and the legacy of honor as they lay down their lives for the greater good. They go to war. They seek the Truth. They fall and fail. They rise again, always grasping and yearning for the answer of peace which they know in their hearts will fulfill the deepest longing of the soul. The human soul languishes in a prison of weak, abhorrent flesh, but in moments of strength and clarity the soul repents of rebellion and reaches for the grace of God, beating the flesh and forcing its stubborn will into submission. As the conscience of mankind is seared and numbed the soul falls away from the guiding Holy Spirit of God. Yet even in the darkest hour of gross negligence and unholy bondage the story is etched in one form or another in the heart and soul of every created being. It longs to be revealed and to realize the plan of redemption, the vanquishing of evil and the ultimate victory of eternal life over death. For this reason the thespian efforts of aspiring and inspiring actors in theatres of old and movies of modern day portray in the most realistic fashion possible the heroic adventures of men and gods. From the fairy tale prince to the sleeping princess; from the white knight on a white horse rescuing the damsel in distress to the brave and hearty warrior knight vanquishing the evil, fire-breathing dragon; all of them together seek the consummation of all conflict and the destruction of evil that they might engage in the ever elusive dream of happily ever after. This is the story of God whose ultimate will is that none should perish, but that all should come to a knowledge of the truth that they might be saved. Humanity recognizes this eternal structure of holiness, righteousness, peace and grace and they seek the authority of a benevolent authority to end all conflict but many seldom come to the knowledge of the truth that this archetypal desire that is written on our hearts comes from The God Almighty who created the universe, gave us His Word, revealed to us His will, died to win our love, and has a plan of redemption according to the good pleasure of His will. This plan exists in the Words of prophetic scripture and binds all of humanity to its consummation and to the total fulfillment of the destiny, our destiny, written on every single heart and soul for eternity. There has never been such a sure collection of signs indicating we are approaching the end of the age and entering into the last days of Bible Prophecy. Based on a historical and Biblical foundation, a deep look at the prophetic scriptures of the Bible coupled with deductive exegesis reveals a great deal about where the world stands today in the prophetic timeline and in what order the events of the last days unfold. In the Glorious Battle we discuss the order of prophetic events such as: the last seven years of this age, the great tribulation, the revealing of antichrist, the rapture of the church, and the return of Jesus Christ in power and glory. In the midst of these final moments in the history of this age every soul on earth will have to endure their own personal battle as they decide what to do with Jesus, The Word of God and the clear warnings of Jesus to watch for His return.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Counting the Days to Armageddon is work is of vital importance for all concerned with the Jehovah's Witness movement. It provides a thorough examination of their eschatological development, treating Watch Tower theology objectively but sympathetically. Crompton also speculates about the future direction of Jehovah's Witness teaching. The book begins with a brief consideration of the biblical foundations of doctrines of the last days, particularly the books of Daniel and Revelation. There follows an outline summary of some of the main aspects of the history of this doctrine within the Protestant mainstream during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, and an outline of the Adventist teaching of William Miller (1782-1849) in the U.S.A. During the time following the failure of Miller's expectations of the end of the world, his ideas were developed by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916), prime mover of the Watch Tower movement. Counting the Days to Armageddon explores the way in which Russell amended Miller's ideas, and also the distinctive way in which he handled the Dispensational categorisation of history of John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) to create an extension of historicist speculation on the application of prophecy to the modern world. The response of the Watch Tower movement to the failure of Russell's expectations in 1914 is explored, and the new body of doctrine which has replaced Russell's is examined. The ways in which these doctrines have been modified in the past suggest ways in which future doctrine may develop, especially in response to the protracted delay of Armageddon. What is envisaged, in the light of the history of Watch Tower doctrine, is no dramatic collapse of the movement but rather an increasing emphasis upon other, less vulnerable areas of doctrine together with a greater turnover of membership which may, in due course, undermine the movement's stability.
