Book excerpt: Arisen Truth reveals forgotten ancient knowledge and teaching of Jesus called The Way of Truth, sometimes referred to as The Way of God in Truth, "his way" and "the way." This is the missing knowledge traditional church has strayed away from over several centuries. The theme of Truth and practice called "The Way of Truth" was gradually lost over time due to the church corrupting its original doctrines. This knowledge is partially why many Christians are unsuccessful in prospering. We, the authors, believe the church's growth has been halted by not implementing the process of Truth. Truth incorporates the Word, The Foundational laws, commandments, and more into one concept-Truth. This book reveals how to practice what you learn in the Bible and Church. This book is about more than Salvation but rescuing God's people from a lack of knowledge. Christians are being taught a partial understanding of their faith. Perhaps, less than half of what is needed to be actively successful. As a result, many are stagnant, others move forward and fall back continually, and many in the West have dropped out altogether. The Truth was the key theme Jesus taught and practiced while on Earth; it is interwoven in the Bible and placed in the human Spirit. However, you must unlock its secrets. The formal Church Age is ending. Believers in Jesus Christ are the church and (many) will return to the home meeting place (informal places). This book is the knowledge that will assist you in that transition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This elegantly translated collection of Heidegger’s private later writings is “illuminating to some of his most difficult discussions.” (Phillip Braunstein, Loyola Marymount College). Martin Heidegger’s The Event offers the most in-depth articulation of his later work’s most foundational concept, as well as his most substantial self-critique of his Contributions to Philosophy: Of the Event. Written between 1936 and 1944, and published posthumously as volume 71 of his Complete Works, The Event collects Heidegger’s private writings in response to his Contributions. Richard Rojcewicz’s faithful and straightforward translation offers the English-speaking reader intimate contact with the author’s process of formulating some of his most important concepts. This book lays out how the Event is to be understood and ties it closely to looking, showing, self-manifestation, and the self-unveiling of the gods.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be truthful? What role does truth play in our lives? What do we lose if we reject truthfulness? No philosopher is better suited to answer these questions than Bernard Williams. Writing with his characteristic combination of passion and elegant simplicity, he explores the value of truth and finds it to be both less and more than we might imagine. Modern culture exhibits two attitudes toward truth: suspicion of being deceived (no one wants to be fooled) and skepticism that objective truth exists at all (no one wants to be naive). This tension between a demand for truthfulness and the doubt that there is any truth to be found is not an abstract paradox. It has political consequences and signals a danger that our intellectual activities, particularly in the humanities, may tear themselves to pieces. Williams's approach, in the tradition of Nietzsche's genealogy, blends philosophy, history, and a fictional account of how the human concern with truth might have arisen. Without denying that we should worry about the contingency of much that we take for granted, he defends truth as an intellectual objective and a cultural value. He identifies two basic virtues of truth, Accuracy and Sincerity, the first of which aims at finding out the truth and the second at telling it. He describes different psychological and social forms that these virtues have taken and asks what ideas can make best sense of them today. Truth and Truthfulness presents a powerful challenge to the fashionable belief that truth has no value, but equally to the traditional faith that its value guarantees itself. Bernard Williams shows us that when we lose a sense of the value of truth, we lose a lot both politically and personally, and may well lose everything.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume book considers from a risk perspective the current phenomenon of the new Alt-Right authoritarianism and whether it represents ‘real’ democracy or an unacceptable hegemony potentially resulting in elected dictatorships and abuses as well as dysfunctional government. Contributing authors represent an eclectic range of disciplines, including cognitive, organizational and political psychology, sociology, history, political science, international relations, linguistics and discourse analysis, and risk analysis. The Alt-Right threats and risk exposures, whether to democracy, human rights, law and order, social welfare, racial harmony, the economy, national security, the environment, and international relations, are identified and analysed across a number of selected countries. While Vol. 1 focusses on the US, Vol. 2 (ISBN 978-3-8382-1263-0) illuminates the phenomenon in the UK, Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Hungary, and Russia. Potential strategies to limit the Alt-Right threat are proposed.

Externalism challenges basic traditional internalist conceptions of the nature of knowledge, justification, thought and language. What is at stake, is the very form that theories in epistemology and the philosophy of mind ought to take. This volume is a collection of original contributions of leading international authors reflecting on the present state of the art concerning the exciting controversies between internalism and externalism.

In the course of making this case Thomas Vinci develops a broad reinterpretation of Cartesian thought that unlocks novel solutions to many of the most vexed questions in Cartesian scholarship.

Book excerpt: In "The Gay Science or, The Joyful Wisdom," Nietzsche experiments with the notion of power. The book contains Nietzsche's first consideration of the idea of the eternal recurrence, a concept which would become critical in his next work Thus Spoke Zarathustra and underpins much of the later works. The book's title uses a phrase that was well known at the time. It was derived from a Provençal expression (gai saber) for the technical skill required for poetry-writing that had already been used by Ralph Waldo Emerson and E. S. Dallas... Excerpt: "A bad conscience is easier to cope with than a bad reputation." "Those who know that they are profound strive for clarity. Those who would like to seem profound to the crowd strive for obscurity. For the crowd believes that if it cannot see to the bottom of something it must be profound. It is so timid and dislikes going into the water." Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900) was a German philosopher, poet, and Latin and Greek scholar whose work has exerted a profound influence on Western philosophy and modern intellectual history. Because of Nietzsche's evocative style and provocative ideas, his philosophy generates passionate reactions. His works remain controversial, due to varying interpretations and misinterpretations of his work. In the Western philosophy tradition, Nietzsche's writings have been described as the unique case of free revolutionary thought, that is, revolutionary in its structure and problems, although not tied to any revolutionary project.

Book excerpt: "Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence." -1 Peter 3:15 Scripture is clear about the fact that we must be prepared to communicate the truth of the Gospel when given the opportunity—and do it with the right attitude. But even when your tone is gentle and respectful, what, specifically, should you say when asked or confronted about your faith? And what is your overall responsibility to unbelievers as a disciple of Christ? Pastor John MacArthur responds to these very questions and more—with solid, biblical answers focused in four particular areas: * your attitude * your preparedness * the content of your answers * your priority in witnessing Combining a biblical study of evangelism, a rational defense of Christian beliefs, and a practical approach to evangelism, this book offers a well-rounded perspective that can help you gently and confidently give an answer for the hope you have in Christ.
