Book Synopsis Listening to the Neighbor by : Byungohk Lee

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Trinity can be understood as a social community with members speaking and listening to one another in love, or, as Luther understood the Trinity, as conversation, then God's mission essentially involves in mission-in-dialogue. Byungohk Lee contends the church has to embrace the dialogical dimension in missional terms because the triune God is the subject of mission. The missional church conversation has taken it for granted that local churches should speak and listen to their neighbors. In contrast, for many churches in Asia, including Korea, mission has generally tended to be practiced in a monological, rather than dialogical, manner. The neighbor has not been regarded as a conversational partner of the church, but only as the object for its mission. In Listening to the Neighbor Lee shows that some local churches have participated in God's mission by listening to their neighbors. He argues that listening is not a technique, but a multifaceted learning process in missional terms. The church must nurture its hearts, eyes, and ears in order to listen to the sigh of its neighbors.

This book was released on 2019-01-23 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Neighbors talk, we many times think it's about gossip and anything else that stirs up trouble within the neighborhood. These 'Neighbors' are not typical neighbors. They do a lot of talking, and much of it is about reality . . . not gossip. They speak words that give meaning to life and treasured by everyone in the community--words that bring a new level of thinking, communicating, and with meaning. They are open, honest, and firm! They have personalities similar to many of us and have gone through problems as many of us have, too. Many have dealt with predators and knew how to protect themselves, some didn't. Many have fallen victim to nice and sweet words that we hear, some were smart enough to recognize the truth. This special 'Neighborhood Watch' group of concerned neighbors speak to real life situations. The proverb, 'It takes a village' to raise a child is similar to the 'Neighbors'. It takes an entire community for a child to experience and grow in a safe environment. It takes a community of different people interacting with children in order for a child to experience and grow in a safe environment. Sometimes it's a means of survival. The Neighbors . . . horses, cows, and zebras all look out for their children just as with a village. Some of their friends and family need their Neighbors help, too. If you miss the opportunity of listening and hearing them, it would be a great loss. If you want to learn more about the 'Neighbors', what's being said about them, and what they are saying, they will tell you "When Neighbors Talk . . . You may want to listen." You will learn about personalities of the Neighbors . . . horses, cows, and zebras. And, not only will you enjoy using your artistic touches of color on each coloring page of this book, but you'll experience the reality of words that each neighbor shares. This coloring book is not just a coloring book for all ages, but a learning and sharing storybook experience that we believe you will long remember.

Book Synopsis A Listening Community by : Aquinata Böckmann
Download or read book A Listening Community written by Aquinata Böckmann and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2015 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new book by Sister Aquinata Böckmann discusses the Prologue and chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the Rule of St. Benedict. In a lectio regulae she plumbs the depths of Benedict's vision. Listen, the first word of the Prologue, is a keyword that describes the main stance of the individual monastic, the superior, and the entire community. Listening to the Scriptures and in them to Christ guides individuals and the community on how to "run on the way of God's commandments" toward the goal of communal life in and with Christ. The first three chapters of the Rule concretize the principles of this communal spirituality of listening: the importance of a rule and a pastor for maintaining the community's attentiveness to life; the superior's responsibility to listen to individuals within the community; and the mutual listening between leader and community members, regardless of their age. As in her earlier books Sister Aquinata proves to be a true guide into the spirit of Benedict's Rule, which provides sound principles for listening in common in a community of life.
