Book excerpt: People have sought Truth in many places and in every way imaginable. Yet, despite (and because of) all our external searching, we have not learned the obvious—that We are the Truth we are seeking, and that the memory of who we are will satisfy all our other needs and desires. We Are One: Using Intuition to Awaken to Truth appeals to all people who have found that the achievement of health, romance and success are not enough to inspire meaning in their lives, and to health practitioners who now have very little time to know their patients. The book's simple four-step template can be used as effortlessly for making a decision as for experiencing God. The reader will learn how to find their own truth within themselves, check the veracity other people's information, heal themselves, and remove any blocks to living a fully authentic and spiritual life. Written by Helen D. Vandeman, M.Ed., a dynamic speaker who has presented at conferences in the United States and abroad, We Are One combines the wisdom of mystics with the evidence of scientists to give intuition its rightful place in our lives.

Book Synopsis Together We Are One by : Thich Nhat Hanh
Download or read book Together We Are One written by Thich Nhat Hanh and published by Parallax Press. This book was released on 2006-05-09 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on four retreats that Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh led specifically for people of color, this book is for people of all colors, backgrounds, and experiences who have ever felt excluded or alienated, or anyone concerned with issues of social justice. Although Together We Are One is based on teachings given to Buddhist practitioners of color, readers of all backgrounds and walks of life will find it an inspirational and practical guide. In chapters focusing on honoring our ancestors, developing understanding and compassion, and seeing the world in terms of interbeing, Nhat Hanh shows how meditation and the practice of looking deeply can help create a sense of wholeness and connectedness with others. Chapters are interspersed with mindfulness practice exercises and the personal stories of skilled writers, such as Larry Ward (author of Love’s Garden), Sr. Chan Khong (author of Learning True Love), and Rev. Hilda Ryumon Gutierrez Baldoquin (editor of Dharma Color and Culture), about their discovery of a spiritual path, their experience of finding balance, overcoming obstacles in an unpredictable world, and maintaining and sharing insights. Together We Are One is a valuable addition to the unique expression of Buddhism in the West. As in all his writings, Thich Nhat Hanh does not suggest we replace traditional beliefs and customs with Buddhism, but rather emphasizes that a mindful approach to daily life and interactions can help overcome misperception and separation so that we might honor and transcend our differences. Nhat Hanh’s primary focus highlights the basic how-to’s of Buddhist practice, such as mindful walking and eating, the practice of Looking Deeply, and a never before published multicultural version of the Touching the Earth Ceremony, making them accessible possibilities for a better everyday life. A companion movie to the book, featuring Thich Nhat Hanh's retreat, can be found at www.colorsofcompassionmovie.com

Book Synopsis Father-Son God's Word Are One by : David Lee Keller
Download or read book Father-Son God's Word Are One written by David Lee Keller and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-09-10 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:12-14) To fear God, you must first believe there is a God. To keep God's commandments, you must first have a love to know God's heart and His will for all people. Only then with love for God and love for your neighbor will you have a heart to keep God's commandments. Place your faith and your trust in the spoken words of the Father/Son. Many Christians seem to focused on what they see as a faith requirement for salvation and go no further. They don't see a need to love God nor to walk in His ways, no need to imitate Christ. The Father and Son yearn for a relationship through this life and the next. Don't worry about salvation after death; pursue a walk with God in the present, and do your best to imitate Christ in this life. Peace, joy, and happiness is in the walk with the Creator today. In that walk with the Father/Son, trials will continue to come, but now, you will have a strong hand at your side. And that strong hand will carry you through this life and the next! May you have a love and a joy to please the Creator and the provider of salvation through His Son! May you have a faithfulness that comes from the heart.

Book Synopsis You Are One of Them by : Elliott Holt
Download or read book You Are One of Them written by Elliott Holt and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2013-05-30 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A hugely absorbing first novel from a writer with a fluid, vivid style and a rare knack for balancing the pleasure of entertainment with the deeper gratification of insight. More, please.” —Maggie Shipstead, The New York Times Book Review (Editors’ Choice) "A story about Russia, the United States, friendship, identity, defection, and deception that is smart, startling, and worth reading regardless of when you were born.” —Kathryn Schulz, New York Magazine "Holt's beguiling debut… in which there is no difference between personal and political betrayal, vividly conjures the anxieties of the Cold War without ever lapsing into nostalgia." —The New Yorker Sarah Zuckerman and Jennifer Jones are best friends in an upscale part of Washington, D.C., in the politically charged 1980s. Sarah is the shy, wary product of an unhappy home: her father abandoned the family to return to his native England; her agoraphobic mother is obsessed with fears of nuclear war. Jenny is an all-American girl who has seemingly perfect parents. With Cold War rhetoric reaching a fever pitch in 1982, the ten-year-old girls write letters to Soviet premier Yuri Andropov asking for peace. But only Jenny's letter receives a response, and Sarah is left behind when her friend accepts the Kremlin's invitation to visit the USSR and becomes an international media sensation. The girls' icy relationship still hasn't thawed when Jenny and her parents die tragically in a plane crash in 1985. Ten years later, Sarah is about to graduate from college when she receives a mysterious letter from Moscow suggesting that Jenny's death might have been a hoax. She sets off to the former Soviet Union in search of the truth, but the more she delves into her personal Cold War history, the harder it is to separate facts from propaganda. You Are One of Them is a taut, moving debut about the ways in which we define ourselves against others and the secrets we keep from those who are closest to us. In her insightful forensic of a mourned friendship, Holt illuminates the long lasting sting of abandonment and the measures we take to bring back those we have lost.

Book Synopsis ALL RELIGIONS ARE ONE & THERE IS NO NATURAL RELIGION by : William Blake
Download or read book ALL RELIGIONS ARE ONE & THERE IS NO NATURAL RELIGION written by William Blake and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2017-12-06 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Religions are One is the title of a series of philosophical aphorisms by William Blake, written in 1788. Following on from his initial experiments with relief etching in the non-textual The Approach of Doom (1787), All Religions are One and There is No Natural Religion represent Blake's first successful attempt to combine image and text via relief etching, and are thus the earliest of his illuminated manuscripts. As such, they serve as a significant milestone in Blake's career. William Blake (1757 – 1827) was a British poet, painter, visionary mystic, and engraver, who illustrated and printed his own books. Blake proclaimed the supremacy of the imagination over the rationalism and materialism of the 18th-century. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of both the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age.
