Book Synopsis Nordic Mediation Research by : Anna Nylund
Download or read book Nordic Mediation Research written by Anna Nylund and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book presents twelve unique studies on mediation from researchers in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, respectively. Each study highlights important aspects of mediation, including the role of children in family mediation, the evolution and ambivalent application of restorative justice in the Nordic countries, the confusion of roles in court-connected mediation, and the challenges in dispute systems. Over the past 20-30 years, mediation has gained in popularity in many countries around the world and is often heralded as a suitable and cost-effective mode of conflict resolution. However, as the studies in this volumes show, mediation also has a number of potential drawbacks. Parties’ self-determination may be jeopardized, affected third parties are involved in an inadequate way, and the legal regulations may be flawed. The publication can inspire research, help professionals and policymakers in the field and be used as a textbook.
Book Synopsis Norway-Sweden by : Raymond E. Lindgren
Download or read book Norway-Sweden written by Raymond E. Lindgren and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-08 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Scandinavian countries today form a security-community for economic cooperation and the settlement of international controversy by peaceful methods rather than by war. This status was achieved not while Norway and Sweden were amalgamated in a political union from 1814 to 1905, but only after separation. In this book Dr. Lindgren analyzes some of the forces underlying the failure and dissolution of the Norway-Sweden union. Originally published in 1959. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Book Synopsis Pax Mundi by : Klas Pontus Arnoldson
Download or read book Pax Mundi written by Klas Pontus Arnoldson and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 1892 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is natural that the advocates of international Peace should sometimes grow discouraged and impatient through what they are tempted to consider the slow progress of their cause. Sudden outbursts of popular feeling, selfish plans for national aggrandisement, unremoved causes of antipathy between neighbours, lead them to overlook the general tendency of circumstances and opinions which, when it is regarded on a large scale, is sufficient to justify their loftiest hopes. It is this general tendency of thought and fact, corresponding to the maturer growth of peoples, which brings to us the certain assurance that the Angelic Hymn which welcomed the Birth of Christ advances, slowly it may be as men count slowness, but at least unmistakably, towards fulfilment. There are pauses and interruptions in the movement; but, on the whole, no one who patiently regards the course of human history can doubt that we are drawing nearer from generation to generation to a practical sense of that brotherhood and that solidarity of men-both words are necessary-which find their foundation and their crown in the message of the Gospel.
