With an academic training in photography and a professional background in advertising, Nobuyoshi Araki's subject matter is wide-ranging and incredibly diverse. Blending the careful composition of traditional Japanese culture with his own frenetic energy, Araki's work is compelling and controversial. Many of his works are erotically charged, yet, with a true artist's sensibility he brings something original to each composition. Undoubtedly one of the most prolific artists of any age, this portfolio challenges our most fundamental assumptions.

Book Synopsis Electrochemistry of N4 Macrocyclic Metal Complexes by : Jose H. Zagal
Download or read book Electrochemistry of N4 Macrocyclic Metal Complexes written by Jose H. Zagal and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition describes the state of the art regarding metal complexes of N4-ligands, such as porphyrins and phthalocyanines. Volume 2 focuses on the electro assisted use of N4 complexes as biomimetic models for studying several biological redox processes. It focuses on molecular oxygen transport and catalytic activation to mimic monooxygenase enzymes of the cytochrome P450 in particular. It also examines N4 complexes’ use as catalysts for the oxidative degradation of various types of pollutants (organo-halides, for example) and residual wastes. The remarkable activity of these complexes towards a large number of significantly relevant biological compounds makes them excellent candidates as electrode modifiers for electrochemical sensing. This volume also discusses applications of N4 Macrocyclic Metal Complexes to photoelectrochemistry and photocatalysis, and concludes with an exciting section on Electrosynthesis of N4.
Book Synopsis Real-Time Management of Resource Allocation Systems by : Spyros A. Reveliotis
Download or read book Real-Time Management of Resource Allocation Systems written by Spyros A. Reveliotis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-07-18 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real-Time Management of Resource Allocation Systems focuses on the problem of managing the resource allocation taking place within the operational context of many contemporary technological applications, including flexibly automated production systems, automated railway and/or monorail transportation systems, electronic workflow management systems, and business transaction supporting systems. A distinct trait of all these applications is that they limit the role of the human element to remote high-level supervision, while placing the burden of the real-time monitoring and coordination of the ongoing activity upon a computerized control system. Hence, any applicable control paradigm must address not only the issues of throughput maximization, work-in-process inventory reduction, and delay and cost minimization, that have been the typical concerns for past studies on resource allocation, but it must also guarantee the operational correctness and the behavioral consistency of the underlying automated system. The resulting problem is rather novel for the developers of these systems, since, in the past, many of its facets were left to the jurisdiction of the present human intelligence. It is also complex, due to the high levels of choice – otherwise known as flexibility – inherent in the operation of these environments.

Book Synopsis The Japanese Economy During the Great Depression by : Masato Shizume
Download or read book The Japanese Economy During the Great Depression written by Masato Shizume and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-25 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a systematic explanation of a remarkable policy innovation in an emerging economy in the modern world. In doing so, it highlights the nature of the Japanese economy during the interwar period. It offers a canonical case study for an international macroeconomic policy of a small and open economy. Readers can draw lessons from the Japanese experience in the 1930s, recalling what kinds of challenges policymakers faced in a crisis situation, what they can do, and what they should not do. As a whole, it is a novel reference both for scholars in economic history and international economics and for policymakers all over the world. A comprehensive and clear-cut picture of the Japanese economy during the Great Depression in the 1930s is presented, including the policy innovations brought about by an iconoclastic finance minister, Korekiyo Takahashi, at that time. To this end, the book integrates the narrative analysis based on newly available archival documents and the quantitative analysis based on newly constructed macroeconomic data and contemporary econometric methodologies. This work shows how Japan escaped from the depression in its early stage. It illustrates a transmission mechanism of the macroeconomic stimulus package of currency depreciation, easy money, and fiscal expansion. As well, it argues that the key for economic recovery was currency depreciation and that expectations played a pivotal role in ending deflation and kick-starting economic recovery. Also contained here is an exploration of politico-economic interaction in the shaping of economic policy and the long-term consequences of policy actions such as departure from the gold standard and initiation of the government debt finance by the central bank. It is shown that the collapse of the international gold standard and the lack of governance of military spending resulted in a loss of fiscal discipline in the long run.
