The Army EM Program is responsible for all activities and operations related to preventing, protecting against, mitigating the potential effects of, responding to, and recovering from all multi-agency and/or multi-jurisdictional emergencies on or impacting Army installations and SAFs worldwide. The Army EM program functions within an all-hazards environment consisting of all natural, technological, human-caused hazards, including terrorism threats or incidents. This publication further outlines specific exceptions and caveats for facilities not possessing organic emergency response capabilities. Our culture is becoming increasingly ''unfit," due to poor nutrition, a lack of adequate and formal exercise, and too much technology. Still, the Soldiers who come to our Army from our society will be asked to fight in increasingly complex and demanding conflicts, and they must be prepared through new, unique, and scientifically based techniques. So while Dr. East's monograph is a fascinating history, it is also a required call for all leaders to better understand the science and the art of physical preparation for the battlefield. It was and is important for us to get this area of training right, because getting it right means a better chance for success in combat.

Confronting Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Sex Trafficking of Minors in the United States examines commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents of the United States under age 18. According to this report, efforts to prevent, identify, and respond to these crimes require better collaborative approaches that build upon the capabilities of people and entities from a range of sectors. In addition, such efforts need to confront demand and the individuals who commit and benefit from these crimes.
