Adams and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical approach toward numerical calculation of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary layer on a sharp cone at incidence under supersonic and hypersonic flow conditions is presented. The theoretical model is based on implicit finite-difference integration of the governing three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer equations in conjunction with a three-dimensional scalar eddy-viscosity model of turbulence. Comparison is made of present theory with detailed experimental measurements of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer structure (velocity and temperature profiles), the surface streamline direction (obtained via an oil-flow technique) and surface heat-transfer rate.

Book Synopsis Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers by : Tuncer Cebeci
Download or read book Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers written by Tuncer Cebeci and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers focuses on turbulent flows meeting the requirements for the boundary-layer or thin-shear-layer approximations. Its approach is devising relatively fundamental, and often subtle, empirical engineering correlations, which are then introduced into various forms of describing equations for final solution. After introducing the topic on turbulence, the book examines the conservation equations for compressible turbulent flows, boundary-layer equations, and general behavior of turbulent boundary layers. The latter chapters describe the CS method for calculating two-dimensional and axisymmetric laminar and turbulent boundary layers. This book will be useful to readers who have advanced knowledge in fluid mechanics, especially to engineers who study the important problems of design.

Book Synopsis The Singular Nature of Three-dimensional Perturbations of Boundary Layers and the Small Cross Flow Theory by : Raymond Sedney
Download or read book The Singular Nature of Three-dimensional Perturbations of Boundary Layers and the Small Cross Flow Theory written by Raymond Sedney and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three-dimensional perturbations on two-dimensional boundary layer flows are considered. First initially induced perturbations are studied and a general solution obtained. Second a specific externally induced perturbation is discussed. In both the streamwise velocity perturbation becomes infinite but the cross flow decays as downstream infinity is approached. This implies that the small cross flow approximation is a singular perturbation. The basis for this lies in the fact that the nature of the equations is changed by the approximation, viz., the zone of dependence property is lost.
