Cette étude présente l'intérêt d'aborder des problèmes plus généraux, dont la formulation s'adapte correctement à des méthodes numériques puissantes. Elle permet aussi de traduire directement les propriétés déduites de considérations énergétiques. Le problème qui nous préoccupe est celui du calcul de l'écoulement tridimensionnel à potentiel de vitesse d'un fluide incompressible autour d'un obstacle convexe. Nous nous intéressons à la perturbation due à l'obstacle lors d'un mouvement de translation. Il faut remarquer cependant que l'étude s'applique aussi pour les corps en rotation. L'essentiel de nos recherches va porter sur la résolution d'un problème de Newmann exétieur. Dans le chapitre II, on cherche un espace fonctionnel "d'énergie finie" dans lequel sera située la solution unique (définie presque partant) sur un ouvert non borné. Ce type d'espace a été envisagé par Beppo Levie (qui lui a donné son nom), mais a été étudié longuement par Nicodym, dans un cadre fonctionnel plus large que celui proposé par Levi. Les résultats principaux obtenus dans cette première partie concernent l'existence et l'unicité de la solution et une "certaine irrégularité" de sa trace sur la frontière de l'obstacle. Ce dernier point est intéressant car il constitue le point de départ dans la résolution des équations de couche limite. On montre aussi dans ce chapitre, que l'on peut définir la solution exacte comme limite (dans un sens à préciser) d'une suite de solution de problèmes du même type mais définis sur des ouverts bornés. Enfin, nous étudions une formulation variationnelle du problème posé par l'utilisation de la méthode des singularités. C'est une méthode importante qui puise sa force dans sa généralité. Elle permet d'aborder des résolutions d'écoulements de fluides réels, par un schéma de mouvement à potentiel de vitesses. Des études numériques ont été faites surtout par Hess et Smith, d'abord pour des corps non portants (c'est le cas que nous étudions) puis pour des corps portants. Ce dernier point sort de nos préoccupations actuelles. Dans le cas des corps non portants, il faut résoudre une équation de Fredholm à laquelle statisfait la densité de la distribution de simple couche définie sur la frontière (gamma) de l'obstacle. Cette résolution se ramène à un problème variationnel équivalent au problème intialement posé. On recherche la densité dans H−1/2([gamma]). Dans le chapitre III, on définit un problème approché qui permet d'approximer la solution sur un ouvert borné. Une des principales difficultés vient du fait que les démonstrations habituelles tombent en défaut car la solution n'est pas en général, deux fois continuement dérivable. Le problème ainsi traité permet de s'affanchir de certaines conditions sur les traces de la solution sur la frontière. Il suffit que la dérivée normale sur la frontière [gamme] de l'obstacle soit dans H−1/2([gamma]). Enfin cette étude que nous appellerons "étude directe" nous amène en général à discrétiser l'équation de Laplace après un passage en coordonnées curvilignes orthogonales. Le domaine est ainsi ramené à une forme simple et de plus, nous pouvons exploiter les symétries éventuelles. Nous sommes ainsi conduit à introduire des espaces de Sobolev avec poids. L'étude de l'approximation de ces espaces permettrait d'obtenir des schémas de haute précision pour la résolution de l'équation elliptique dégénérée obtenue. Nous abordons enfin la résolution effective de quelques écoulements à potentiel de vitesses, possèdant une symétrie de révolution. La discrétisation se fait suivant un schéma explicite de l'équation d'évolution associée à l'équation stationnaire. On traite le cas de l'écoulement autour de la sphère avec et sans soufflage, puis de l'ellispsoïde de révolution."
