Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA MISE EN VALEUR DES RIVIERES NON DOMANIALES EN MILIEU URBAIN CONSTITUE UN CHAMP DE RECHERCHE QUI RESTE EN PARTIE A EXPLORER. ON CONSTATE UNE ABSENCE DE CONCEPTS ET UN MANQUE DE SAVOIR-FAIRE QUI RENDENT NECESSAIRES L'ELABORATION DE METHODOLOGIES SPECIFIQUES. POUR MIEUX COMPRENDRE CETTE SITUATION, UNE ANALYSE DE LA PLACE DE L'EAU DANS L'ORGANISATION ET LE FONCTIONNEMENT DES VILLES DEPUIS DEUX MILLENAIRES EST REALISEE EN PREALABLE A LA PRESENTATION DES ENJEUX ET DES CONTRAINTES ACCOMPAGNANT LA REDECOUVERTE DE L'EAU DANS LA VILLE CONTEMPORAINE. LA NOTION DE PRISE DE DECISION, SOUS-JACENTE A CES QUESTIONS, EST ENSUITE ABORDEE A PARTIR D'UNE ANALYSE THEORIQUE DE LA DECISION, EN SOULIGNANT L'INTERET DES MODELES D'AIDE A LA DECISION POUR L'AMENAGEMENT DES RIVIERES, MAIS AUSSI LES DIFFICULTES DE LEUR UTILISATION DU FAIT DE LA MULTIPLICITE DES FACTEURS A PRENDRE EN COMPTE ET DE LA DIVERSITE DES ACTEURS IMPLIQUES. CETTE ANALYSE EST COMPLETEE PAR UNE DESCRIPTION DU CADRE JURIDIQUE ET INSTITUTIONNEL DE GESTION DES EAUX, METTANT EN EVIDENCE LE POIDS DES STRUCTURES ET DES LANGAGES DANS LA PRISE DE DECISION. LA NECESSITE D'INFLECHIR LES PROCESSUS DECISIONNELS ET DE PROPOSER DES DEMARCHES PLUS SOUPLES APPARAIT ALORS CLAIREMENT. L'ETUDE DE L'YZERON, RIVIERE NON DOMANIALE DE L'OUEST LYONNAIS, SUIVIE ET ANALYSEE AU COURS DE CETTE RECHERCHE, CONFIRME CE BESOIN EN MONTRANT LES POSSIBILITES D'ETABLIR DE NOUVELLES APPROCHES MOINS FORMALISEES, MAIS AUSSI LES DIFFICULTES DE LEUR APPLICATION. EN REFERENCE A CETTE EXPERIMENTATION ET A DIFFERENTES OPERATIONS D'AMENAGEMENT DE RIVIERES URBAINES ETUDIEES AU COURS DE CE TRAVAIL, UNE APPROCHE METHODOLOGIQUE DE MISE EN VALEUR DES COURS D'EAU EST PROPOSEE. ELLE EST ORGANISEE TANT SUR LE PLAN STRUCTUREL QUE FONCTIONNEL POUR PREPARER PUIS METTRE EN UVRE UN PROJET D'AMENAGEMENT, FONDE SUR L'ORGANISATION D'UN PARTENARIAT DE BASSIN OU DE SOUS-BASSIN VERSANT

Book Synopsis Faecal Sludge Management by : Linda Strande
Download or read book Faecal Sludge Management written by Linda Strande and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is estimated that literally billions of residents in urban and peri-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are served by onsite sanitation systems (e.g. various types of latrines and septic tanks). Until recently, the management of faecal sludge from these onsite systems has been grossly neglected, partially as a result of them being considered temporary solutions until sewer-based systems could be implemented. However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management. It compiles the current state of knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of faecal sludge management, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management, and planning based on Sandecs 20 years of experience in the field. Faecal Sludge Management: Systems Approach for Implementation and Operation addresses the organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge, and the current state of knowledge of treatment options, to the final end use or disposal of treated sludge. The book also presents important factors to consider when evaluating and upscaling new treatment technology options. The book is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, and engineers and practitioners in the field who have some basic knowledge of environmental and/or wastewater engineering.

Download or read book Taking a Multisectoral One Health Approach : A Tripartite Guide to Addressing Zoonotic Diseases in Countries written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2019-03-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2018 FAO-OIE-WHO (Tripartite) zoonoses guide, “Taking A Multisectoral, One Health Approach: A Tripartite Guide to Addressing Zoonotic Diseases in Countries” (2018 TZG) is being jointly developed to provide member countries with practical guidance on OH approaches to build national mechanisms for multisectoral coordination, communication, and collaboration to address zoonotic disease threats at the animal-human-environment interface. The 2018 TZG updates and expands on the guidance in the one previous jointly-developed, zoonoses-specific guidance document: the 2008 Tripartite “Zoonotic Diseases: A Guide to Establishing Collaboration between Animal and Human Health Sectors at the Country Level”, developed in WHO South-East Asia Region and Western Pacific Region. The 2018 TZG supports building by countries of the resilience and capacity to address emerging and endemic zoonotic diseases such as avian influenza, rabies, Ebola, and Rift Valley fever, as well as food-borne diseases and antimicrobial resistance, and to minimize their impacts on health, livelihoods, and economies. It additionally supports country efforts to implement WHO International Health Regulations (2005) and OIE international standards, to address gaps identified through external and internal health system evaluations, and to achieve targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2018 TZG provides relevant country ministries and agencies with lessons learned and good practices identified from country-level experiences in taking OH approaches for preparedness, prevention, detection and response to zoonotic disease threats, and provides guidance on multisectoral communication, coordination, and collaboration. It informs on regional and country-level OH activities and relevant unisectoral and multisectoral tools available for countries to use.
Book Synopsis The European Landscape Convention by : Michael Jones
Download or read book The European Landscape Convention written by Michael Jones and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-02-09 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important and insightful book provides, for the first time, a broad presentation of ongoing research into public participation in landscape conservation, management and planning, following the 2000 European Landscape Convention which came into force in 2004. The book examines both the theory of participation and what lessons can be learnt from specific European examples. It explores in what manner and to what extent the provisions for participation in the European Landscape Convention have been followed up and implemented. It also presents and compares different experiences of participation in selected countries from northern, southern, eastern and western Europe, and provides a critical examination of public participation in practice. However, while the book’s focus is necessarily on Europe, many of the conclusions drawn are of global relevance. The book provides a valuable reference for researchers and advanced students in landscape policies and management, as well as for professionals and others interested in land-use planning and environmental management.

Book Synopsis Participatory Action Research by : Jacques M. Chevalier
Download or read book Participatory Action Research written by Jacques M. Chevalier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-12 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully revised and updated, this second edition of Participatory Action Research (PAR) provides new theoretical insights and many robust tools that will guide researchers, professionals and students from all disciplines through the process of conducting action research ‘with’ people rather than ‘for’ them or ‘about’ them. PAR is collective reasoning and evidence-based learning focussed on social action. It has immediate relevance in fields ranging from community development to education, health, public engagement, environmental issues and problem solving in the workplace. This new edition has been extensively revised to create a user-friendly textbook on PAR theory and practice, including: updated references and a comprehensive overview of different approaches to PAR (pragmatic, psychosocial, critical); more emphasis on the art of process design, especially in complex social settings characterized by uncertainty and the unknown; developments in the use of Web2 collaborative tools and digital strategies to support real-time data gathering and processing; updated examples and stories from around the world, in a wide range of fields; critical commentaries on major issues in the social sciences, including stakeholder theory, systems thinking, causal analysis, monitoring and evaluation, research ethics, risk assessment and social innovation. This modular textbook provides novel perspectives and ideas in a longstanding tradition that strives to reconnect science and the inquiry process with life in society. It provides coherent and critical treatment of core issues in the ongoing evolution of PAR, making it suitable for a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It is intended for use by researchers, students and working professionals seeking to improve or rethink their approach to co-creating knowledge and supporting action for the well-being of all.
