Both in business and industrial areas as well as in research and development, you will see in this book an incredible devel opment of new methods and tools for computer graphics. They play essential roles in enhancing the productivity and quality of human work through computer graph ics and applications. Extensive coverage of the diverse world of computer graphics is the privilege of this book, which is the Proceedings of InterGraphics '83. This was a truly interna tional computer graphics conference and exhibit, held in Tokyo, April 11-14, 1983, sponsored by the World Computer Grpphics Association (WCGA) and organized by the Japan Management Association (JMA) in coopera'tion' with ·~CM-SIGGRAPH. InterGraphics has over 15 thousands participants. This book consists of seven Chapters. The first two chapters are on the basics of computer graphics, and the remaining five chapters are dedicated to typical appli cation areas of computer graphics. Chapter 1 contains four papers on "graphics techniques". Techniques to generate jag free images, to simulate digital logic, to display free surfaces and to interact with 3 dimensional (3D) shaded graphics are presented. Chapter 2 covers "graphics standards and 3D models" in five papers. Two papers discuss the CORE standard and the GKS standard. Three papers de scribe various 3D models and their evaluations.

Book Synopsis Interactive Graphics in CAD by : Y. Gardan
Download or read book Interactive Graphics in CAD written by Y. Gardan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a society in which the use of information technology is becoming commonplace it is natural that pictures and images produced by elec tronic means should be increasing in importance as a means of com munication. Computer graphics have only recently come to the atten tion of the general public, mainly through animated drawings, advertise ments and video games. The quality of the pictures is often such that, unless informed of the fact, people are unaware that they are created with the help of computers. Some simulations, those developed in con nection with the space shuttle for example, represent a great and rapid progress. In industry, computer graphic techniques are used not only for the presentation of business data, but also in design and manufacture processes. Such computer-assisted systems are collectively represented by the acronym CAX. In CAD/CAM (computer-assisted design/manufacture), interactive graphic techniques have attained considerable importance. In CAD/CAM systems a dialogue can be established between the user and the machine using a variety of easy to operate communication devices. Due to the recent developments in hardware and software (for modelling, visual display, etc), a designer is now able to make decisions based on the information presented (plans, perspective drawings, graphics, etc) with the help of interactive, graphic techniques. These constitute the most visible and perhaps most spectacular aspect of CAD/CAM systems.
Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Enriched Finite Element Methods by : Alejandro M. Aragón
Download or read book Fundamentals of Enriched Finite Element Methods written by Alejandro M. Aragón and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-11-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Enriched Finite Element Methods provides an overview of the different enriched finite element methods, detailed instruction on their use, and also looks at their real-world applications, recommending in what situations they're best implemented. It starts with a concise background on the theory required to understand the underlying functioning principles behind enriched finite element methods before outlining detailed instruction on implementation of the techniques in standard displacement-based finite element codes. The strengths and weaknesses of each are discussed, as are computer implementation details, including a standalone generalized finite element package, written in Python. The applications of the methods to a range of scenarios, including multi-phase, fracture, multiscale, and immersed boundary (fictitious domain) problems are covered, and readers can find ready-to-use code, simulation videos, and other useful resources on the companion website to the book. - Reviews various enriched finite element methods, providing pros, cons, and scenarios forbest use - Provides step-by-step instruction on implementing these methods - Covers the theory of general and enriched finite element methods
