Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A telemetry system employing integrated circuits was investigated and developed. The system uses digital transmission techniques for high accuracy and reliability. In addition, time division multiplexing permits the transmission of many channels of data on a single radio frequency carrier. To increase the system's usefulness, automatic internal calibration circuitry was incorporated. A developmental model was constructed and successfully tested. (Author).

Book excerpt: "With the advent of manned space flight, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has conducted intensive investigations on the physiological makeup of the human body. The last decade has seen major advances in the use of radiotelemetry in physiological research. Revolutionary developments in microelectronics are making possible smaller telemetry systems that can be wholly implanted in laboratory animals. The NASA Ames Research Center has been in the fore-front of such research and has developed many implantable biotelemetry devices now considered by many as a standard method for monitoring physiological functions in animals. This report describes biotelemetry developments at Ames, tracing the evolution of concepts underlying the accurate and reliable biotelemetry systems of today. Such systems are described in sufficient detail for the reader to select designs to meet specific needs. Through its Technology Utilization Program, NASA strives to make the results of such work widely available for the use of those outside the aerospace community. This publication is one of a series intended to achieve those objectives."--Foreword.

Book Synopsis High-speed Integrated Circuit Technology by : Mark J. W. Rodwell
Download or read book High-speed Integrated Circuit Technology written by Mark J. W. Rodwell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the state of the art of very high speed digital integrated circuits. Commercial applications are in fiber optic transmission systems operating at 10, 40, and 100 Gb/s, while the military application is ADCs and DACs for microwave radar. The book contains detailed descriptions of the design, fabrication, and performance of wideband Si/SiGe-, GaAs-, and InP-based bipolar transistors. The analysis, design, and performance of high speed CMOS, silicon bipolar, and III-V digital ICs are presented in detail, with emphasis on application in optical fiber transmission and mixed signal ICs. The underlying physics and circuit design of rapid single flux quantum (RSFQ) superconducting logic circuits are reviewed, and there is extensive coverage of recent integrated circuit results in this technology. Contents: Preface (M J W Rodwell); High-Speed and High-Data-Bandwidth Transmitter and Receiver for Multi-Channel Serial Data Communication with CMOS Technology (M Fukaishi et al.); High-Performance Si and SiGe Bipolar Technologies and Circuits (M Wurzer et al.); Self-Aligned Si BJT/SiGe HBT Technology and Its Application to High-Speed Circuits (K Washio); Small-Scale InGaP/GaAs Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors for High-Speed and Low-Power Integrated-Circuit Applications (T Oka et al.); Prospects of InP-Based IC Technologies for 100-Gbit/S-Class Lightwave Communications Systems (T Enoki et al.); Scaling of InGaAs/InAlAs HBTs for High Speed Mixed-Signal and mm-Wave ICs (M J W Rodwell); Progress Toward 100 GHz Logic in InP HBT IC Technology (C H Fields et al.); Cantilevered Base InP DHBT for High Speed Digital Applications (A L Gutierrez-Aitken et al.); RSFQ Technology: Physics and Devices (P Bunyk et al.); RSFQ Technology: Circuits and Systems (D K Brock). Book Synopsis Development of a telemetry system for monitoring piston characteristics inside combustion engines by : Paul Lagaly
Download or read book Development of a telemetry system for monitoring piston characteristics inside combustion engines written by Paul Lagaly and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2024-05-06 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project aimed to develop a compact and lightweight telemetry system that mechanically decouples measurements, enabling versatile applications across different measurement scenarios, particularly for pistons and other moving systems. Utilizing an ESP8266, a printed circuit board design was created from individually tested integrated circuits, which formed the foundation for measuring various physical variables. Given the challenging conditions inside a piston of an internal combustion engine, ensuring high robustness was paramount during the electrical engineering process to prevent failures due to high temperatures and acceleration levels. Alongside the installation process for thermocouples, software for energy-efficient measurement with customizable resolution and optional transmission via Wi-Fi or internal storing was developed. Demonstrating feasibility during full-load operation of a heavy-duty diesel engine, the telemetry system with a high-resolution surface thermocouple was integrated in one piston to establish a method for assigning crank angles, enabling measurement and transmission of surface temperatures with crank angle resolution. Further series of measurements, including the use of alternative fuels, were conducted with a third piston, expanding the findings. The outcome is an innovative telemetry measurement device capable of recording experimental data from moving components, potentially expediting market solutions by reducing development times.
