This book was released on 1998 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UN PROTOTYPE DE MICROSCOPE OPTIQUE EN CHAMP PROCHE EN REFLEXION A ETE PRECEDEMMENT MIS AU POINT AU LABORATOIRE D'OPTIQUE DE BESANCON. SON DEVELOPPEMENT A ETE POURSUIVI AU TRAVERS DE DIFFERENTES APPLICATIONS. UNE ETUDE SUR L'INFLUENCE DE L'EAU PRESENTE SUR LA SURFACE DES OBJETS MET EN EVIDENCE DIFFERENTS REGIMES D'INTERACTION SUIVANT LA DISTANCE POINTE/ECHANTILLON. CETTE INFLUENCE EST COMPLEXE DU FAIT DU CARACTERE CRISTALLIN DE L'EAU LORSQU'ELLE EST EN COUCHE MINCE COMME C'EST EN GENERAL LE CAS SUR TOUTE SURFACE NON-TRAITEE. LA NANOLITHOGRAPHIE SUR POLYMERE PHOTOSENSIBLE PERMET D'ETUDIER LE COMPORTEMENT OPTIQUE DES SONDES EN SITUATION DE CHAMP PROCHE. EN EFFET, LE POLYMERE A LA PROPRIETE DE SE DEFORMER SOUS L'ACTION DE LA LUMIERE. EN ENVOYANT UNE IMPULSION LUMINEUSE A TRAVERS UNE POINTE SUR LE POLYMERE, ON OBTIENT UNE CARTOGRAPHIE DU CHAMP EMIS PAR LA SONDE. CECI PERMET DE CARACTERISER DES EFFETS DE CONFINEMENT DANS LES POINTES NON-METALLISEES ET DE MONTRER DES EFFETS DE CONFINEMENT SUR LE METAL DANS UNE POINTE METALLISEE. CE GENRE DE TECHNIQUE PERMET EGALEMENT DE LITHOGRAPHIER OPTIQUEMENT DES MOTIFS AVEC DES LARGEURS DE TRAITS DE L'ORDRE DE 100NM. UNE COMPARAISON THEORIE/EXPERIENCE A EGALEMENT ETE MENEE POUR ETUDIER L'EFFET DE CONFINEMENT SUR UNE MATRICE DE TROUS GRAVEE DANS DU VERRE AVEC UNE PERIODE PROCHE DE LA LONGUEUR D'ONDE. UNE ETUDE SPECTROSCOPIQUE DE LA TRANSITION LUMIERE HOMOGENE LUMIERE EVANESCENTE A DONNE UN TRES BON ACCORD ENTRE LES DEUX APPROCHES. CE MICROSCOPE A ETE UTILISE POUR CARACTERISER UNE INTERFACE METAL/SEMICONDUCTEUR GRACE A LA DEPENDANCE EN LONGUEUR D'ONDE DU PHOTOCOURANT GENERE. IL EST ALORS POSSIBLE DE METTRE EN EVIDENCE DES DEFAUTS ELECTRIQUES INDEPENDANTS DE LA TOPOGRAPHIE DE L'ECHANTILLON.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2003-03-27 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting a unified approach, this book focusses on the concepts and theoretical methods that are necessary for an understanding of the physics and chemistry of the fluid state. The authors do not attempt to cover the whole field in an encyclopedic manner. Instead, important ideas are presented in a concise and rigorous style, and illustrated with examples from both simple molecular liquids and more complex soft condensed matter systems such as polymers, colloids, and liquid crystals.

Book excerpt: The book is a history of Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) as applied to the growth of semiconductor thin films (note that it does not cover the subject of metal thin films). It begins by examining the origins of MBE, first of all looking at the nature of molecular beams and considering their application to fundamental physics, to the development of nuclear magnetic resonance and to the invention of the microwave MASER. It shows how molecular beams of silane (SiH4) were used to study the nucleation of silicon films on a silicon substrate and how such studies were extended to compound semiconductors such as GaAs. From such surface studies in ultra-high vacuum the technique developed into a method of growing high quality single crystal films of a wide range of semiconductors. Comparing this with earlier evaporation methods of deposition and with other epitaxial deposition methods such as liquid phase and vapour phase epitaxy (LPE and VPE). The text describes the development of MBE machines from the early 'home-made' variety to that of commercial equipment and show how MBE was gradually refined to produce high quality films with atomic dimensions. This was much aided by the use of various in-situ surface analysis techniques, such as reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and mass spectrometry, a feature unique to MBE. It looks at various modified versions of the basic MBE process, then proceed to describe their application to the growth of so-called 'low-dimensional structures' (LDS) based on ultra-thin heterostructure films with thickness of order a few molecular monolayers. Further chapters cover the growth of a wide range of different compounds and describe their application to fundamental physics and to the fabrication of electronic and opto-electronic devices. The authors study the historical development of all these aspects and emphasise both the (often unexpected) manner of their discovery and development and the unique features which MBE brings to the growth of extremely complex structures with monolayer accuracy.

Book excerpt: Once treated as the absence of knowledge, ignorance today has become a highly influential topic in its own right, commanding growing attention across the natural and social sciences where a wide range of scholars have begun to explore the social life and political issues involved in the distribution and strategic use of not knowing. The field is growing fast and this handbook reflects this interdisciplinary field of study by drawing contributions from economics, sociology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, anthropology, feminist studies, and related fields in order to serve as a seminal guide to the political, legal and social uses of ignorance in social and political life. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on Diffusion in Materials (DIMAT) is the benchmark conference series for diffusion in solids. DIMAT 2011 was organized by the University of Bourgogne in association with CNRS, Dijon (France). The conference showcased new results concerning theoretical tools as well as applied research approaches. Diffusion processes affect all types of materials: nanomaterials, materials for energy, metallurgy, glasses and ceramics, but each requires its own numerical tools. Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS). This volume comprises most of the contributions presented at DIMAT 2011: 4 plenary lectures delivered by famous high-level scientists plus 88 contributions in the form of keynote lectures, talks and posters.
