Book excerpt: Dear Tom, I'm back on Anna Maria Island... missing you. But walking down these beautiful beaches reminds me of us and makes me feel a little less far away from you. And that encourages me as I am writing our story. Hopefully this will help other people who are feeling our pain too. I love and miss you every day, darling. Love, Me When he first saw me, Tom said that he would spend the rest of his life with me. To my surprise, he actually did. He was the love of my life. We shared a story that felt like a dream. Every moment was an adventure... and then Tom became ill.As his mysterious symptoms persisted we were hurtled through a maze of fear, tests, doubts and sorrow. But while doctors toyed with diagnoses- Lyme disease, ALS- we filled each day with joy, hope, good food, wine, music and travel.Even when death came to crush our storybook romance, we found that the human spirit is greater than the frailties of the body, greater than suffering and grief. From the fateful tick bite on Block Island to central nervous system failure, to healing my grief and loss, I stayed afloat, upbeat, and connected to Tom through devotion, true love, and by donning my own special pair of rose-colored glasses.

Do you feel alone, unworthy, or rejected? Do you feel that no one really loves you for you? Maybe you are a caregiver struggling to hold on to your sanity and who you once were? In my book, It’s Not Just You, It Was Me Too!, I talk about all of this and more. I share with you how I learned to live “with” and sometimes even above my anxiety. I explain how I was able break free from the confines of legalism. I tell you all about the truths that I’ve learned that helped me to get to where I am now and how I am able to get through each new day with renewed hope. I share with you the fact that you are most definitely not alone in your struggles, thoughts, and feelings—that I have struggled too. Most importantly, I share with you the solid truth about how you can know beyond any doubt that you are loved beyond measure, worthy, and accepted just the way that you are. As you read through the pages that I’ve written, I share my secrets with you about the following: How I have learned to live “with” anxiety and not be crushed beneath it My life journey under legalism and how I broke free from it My time as a caregiver, what I went through, and how you are not alone Things I did wrong as a parent and what I got right Tips for healthy relationships It is my heart’s desire that by the time you get to the end of my book, you will realize just how much you are loved! I pray that you will see you are not alone in your feelings of unworthiness; of being unloved and rejected; of anxiousness, anger, and bitterness; and in your feelings of helplessness—that it was me too.

Book excerpt: Thirty years ago, I collapsed with a postpartum depression after our fifth child. There were no easy answers, and there were no antidepressants, so I asked God if he would be my Great Psychiatrist. He has gently taught me wonderful truths for living a happy life, which I share with you in Humpty. I write first as a patient, secondly as a Bible student and teacher, and lastly as a nurse who has been a hospice nursing coordinator. I am unaware of any book on the market today that attacks depression from a holistic perspective. I do not think you can get well without working on all three areas of life: spirit, mind, and body. Thus, Humpty. As a patient, I know that there were times when I couldnt concentrate. It was as though a fog settled on the shoreline of my mind. I have written Humpty using stories from my family and many friends. These stories are real and easy to read. My goal is to extend hope to anyone living a difficult life for whatever reason. Twenty million people are known to have depression. We are not all mentally ill; many of us are experiencing changes in our lives. We need time, friends, and a little help to switch the gears of life from wife to widow, employed to unemployed, freedom to twenty-four-hour caregiver.

Book excerpt: THROUGH ROSE COLORED GLASSES is a book of visionary poems mindful of the story of Sayyedina 'Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, who one day passed by a decaying dog carcass in the road with his companions, and replied, when they complained at how rank it smelled, "Yes, but its teeth are beautiful!" We can live our lives in misery seeing only the miserable aspects of this often grindingly difficult existence, or in peace seeing the beauteous and majestic Handprint of The Divine Reality in everything. These often ecstatic poems, mindful of the former, prefer the latter for their inspiration and their goal.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last five decades, ethical theory has been preoccupied by a turn to reasons. The vocabulary of reasons has become a common currency not only in ethics, but in epistemology, action theory, and many related areas. It is now common, for example, to see central theses such as evidentialism in epistemology and egalitarianism in political philosophy formulated in terms of reasons. And some have even claimed that the vocabulary of reasons is so useful precisely because reasons have analytical and explanatory priority over other normative concepts-that reasons in that sense come first. Reasons First systematically explores both the benefits and burdens of the hypothesis that reasons do indeed come first in normative theory, against the conjecture that theorizing in both ethics and epistemology can only be hampered by neglect of the other. Bringing two decades of work on reasons in both ethics and epistemology to bear, Mark Schroeder argues that some of the most important challenges to the idea that reasons could come first are themselves the source of some of the most obstinate puzzles in epistemology: about how perceptual experience could provide evidence about the world, and about what can make evidence sufficient to justify belief. Schroeder shows that, along with moral worth, one of the very best cases for the fundamental explanatory power of reasons in normative theory actually comes from knowledge.

You dont want to miss out on this fairy tale. For anyone in pursuit of finding their Prince Charming, I highly recommend When the Glass Slipper Breaks as inspiration in discovering their ultimate soul mate. David A. Green, President / CEO PBH RESIDENTIAL CARE HOMES Thank you, Jesus, for bringing Cinderella into my life. As usual, your timing was perfect. After a major promotion and the daunting task of overhauling a marketing and sales department, you provided the Diamond needed to guarantee success. She was anything but ordinary. There was no doubt Big Daddy and her Dad would be so proud. Her work ethic was amazing. Her positive can-do attitude was incredible. Her writing skills are the best I have ever seen. Most of all her integrity and trust in the Lord were present every day. Thank you, Cinderella, for being part of my family. God Bless, Terry Thach Business Owner Beth Bannings compact and insightful book is ideal for anyone to read especially women. Beth does a great job keeping the readers attention as she prompts her audience to consider the impact men have had in their life. I had chills when I read how God used me as an instrument in her life. Ive got to believe anyone reading Beths story, whether mature or young in the faith will find much to meditate and reflect on in their own lifes journey. Her story is a great reminder to all of us that we can achieve the sparkling diamonds of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, temperance and meekness. Beth challenges us to focus on the eternal perspective and not allow our temporal circumstances to define who we are. All for His Glory, Jeff Haddock Business Owner

Book excerpt: “What a wonderful, emotional ride! It’s like the Ordinary People of the 21st century...such an achievement!” —Robyn Carr, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Summer That Made Us SEEING THE WORLD THROUGH ROSIE COLORED GLASSES Just as opposites attract, they can also cause friction, and no one feels that friction more than Rex and Rosie’s daughter, Willow. Rex is serious and unsentimental and tapes checklists of chores on Willow’s bedroom door. Rosie is sparkling and enchanting and meets Willow in their treehouse in the middle of the night to feast on candy. After Rex and Rosie’s divorce, Willow finds herself navigating their two different worlds. She is clearly under the spell of her exciting, fun-loving mother. But as Rosie’s behavior becomes more turbulent, the darker underpinnings of her manic love are revealed. Rex had removed his Rosie colored glasses long ago, but will Willow do the same? Whimsical, heartbreaking and uplifting, this is a novel about the many ways love can find you. Rosie Colored Glasses triumphs with the most endearing examples of how mothers and fathers and sons and daughters bend for one another.
