Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By writing this book, the author wishes to share his perspective on Reality, the Cosmos, Life, Birth, Death, Rebirth, Transmigration, Divinity, the Karmic cycle, Moksha, Nirvana based on knowledge gathered from experience, Hindu scriptures and customs, Vedic and Puranic stories, the institution of deities, religious rituals and practices, Science and the world at large. In this book, the author has made an effort to trace the rationale behind Hindu myths, Deities, Rituals, and Beliefs. The author draws moral courage and strength to write this book from the institution of Devi/Devta, which forms an integral part of the social fabric of Pahari culture (culture of the people living in the hills) widely spread in the Western Himalayas, especially Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The book’s premise for the plurality of Hindu deities may, in part, be traced to this Devi/Devta culture. The author earnestly believes that the book would make interesting and informative reading, as it presents a perspective that is apparently at variance with some of the popular notions of Reality and Divinity. It is not a commentary or critique on any religious philosophy, beliefs, or scientific discoveries/theories, though reference to them has been liberally made. The author hopes that his perspective would help kindle the imagination and curiosity of the reader to explore the vast and enigmatic Reality/Cosmos at a personal level and find his/her answers to the aforesaid metaphysical matters.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this extraordinarily candid book, Umesh Patri presents a fresh reappraisal of the impact of Indian scriptures on American transcendentalism which flourished in New England in the 19th century. The major premise of the study is that other influences on the transcendentalists, such as Chinese, Persian, Sufi, Arabic, Neo-Platonism and German transcendentalism, are of less significance than that of Indian scriptures comprising of Hindu and Buddhist texts. In the writings of Emerson, Thoreau and minor transcendentalists like Alcott, Fuller, Channing, Johnson, Brownson, etc., the influence of Indian scriptures is clearly discernable. An attempt has been made here to show that Indian scriptures have not only influenced the philosophical thinking of these writers but also their lifestyle and social conduct. It also attempts to show that transcendentalism was not an isolated movement but was a part of a cultural renaissance which swept the entire nation in the wake of avid interest and curiosity in the ancient lore of other countries. Transcendentalism, it is suggested here, continues to affect the thinking of Americans and can be viewed as a continuing movement of thought in American intellectual history. This book draws attention to many aspects of transcendentalism which have not been adequately discussed so far.

Book excerpt: o What is the meaning of li?ga in ?iva Li?ga? o How old is Hinduism? o How does one develop the act of taking the right decision at the right time? o Why does the mind get distracted while chanting mantras? o Should one believe in palmistry? o Why do the youngsters today go abroad? All of us have asked these questions and many more at some point in time. Journey with The Enlightened is based on such questions raised by the devotees of ?r?majjagadguru ?a?kar?c?rya Sv?m? Ni?cal?nanda Sarasvat?j? across the country and around the year during his various programmes. Written language is a powerful medium to understand the viewpoint of ?a?kar?c?ryaj?. With great insight and vast scriptural knowledge, he analyses all the complex issues faced in the modern world. He offers solutions and open discussions on them. He concludes by putting a counter-question - how will our country and the world change unless we work together for a better world? With His blessings, this book is a humble attempt to bring the wisdom of these discourses to a larger audience. The quest dealt with in Journey with The Enlightened can be categorised under three headings: • Above Self: Quest regarding God—the highest self ‘Param?tm?.’ How is he? How does he look like? What are his attributes? Why should we believe in him? What goes wrong if we defy him? • Self, “I”: Who am I? What should I do to see myself? How should I uplift myself? • Selfless: These questions are the stepping stones to becoming selfless. If anyone wants to understand the contemporary world, the problems that it faces, and wants to be a part of the solution, not the problem - Journey with The Enlightened is the book for them. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Greeks introduced the Titans to the world. Yet, there never was (or is) a temple for the Titanic Gods in Greece. Surprising isn’t it? At the same time, the readers will find more than one temple for most of the Titans in Tamil Nadu. The author takes the readers into a journey of the world of Titans in a strange land. Is not this perplexing? A shocking revelation is the Greek Olympians forming a core of divinity in Tamil Nadu. No explanation is provided for this by the author, though. The genealogy of Gods in Tamil Nadu (evidently drawn from the Greek Texts) provides a solid relationship between the seemingly unrelated Gods In India. Sometimes, a female Greek Goddess is transformed into a male Hindu God. A genealogy of Asuras is also provided to scientifically explain some of the events in the Puranas. This lead the author, a known Euhemerist, to deviate a little from the original texts of Puranas wherever it was necessary. The author, a devout Hindu, firmly believes the Epics and Puranas of Hinduism are very real. A special care has been taken to explain the nature of the birth and worship of Ganesha and Murugan in Tamil Nadu. It is thought the readers are in for a shock or two while reading the stories. And also, a real suspense hangs in the balance regarding the stories of ancient Tamil Sangams, the Sptarishis, the Chera, Chola, Pandiya dynasties of Tamil Nadu. For the author, it was a wonderful experience and a great pleasure to write about the Gods and their age old temples in Tamil Nadu.

Whether it is the contribution of physics, biology, medicine, neurobiology, psychology or other branches of science, the ongoing efforts are entirely an attempt to understand this universal consciousness. However, these ideas are not new: and they have their roots in the Rig Veda, the world’s first book. It deals with Consciousness in entirety. Compiled by the Angirasa Rishis, the Rig Veda is an exposition of the route one can follow to successfully merge the Individual Consciousness and the Universal Consciousness. Gleanings from Rig Veda are an attempt to cull out these transient understandings from centuries ago.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Puranas, as suggested by their name, describe events deep in the earth’s past. Finding a complete cosmology in the ancient Puranic texts that is mostly aligned to the view of cutting-edge science is almost incredible. This book attempts to do so – through an exploratory analysis. The narrative is pieced together by exploring familiar stories from the Puranas in great depth. In the well-known story of the Descent of Ganga, the extra-terrestrial origin of Earth’s waters has been described in amazing detail. The story of the birth of the Sun God Martanda bears a striking resemblance to the origin of the sun. The Churning of the Milk Ocean recounts the re-appearance of the Moon. The book delves into many such stories along with external evidence to come up with a compelling chronicle of our Universe. The book shows the Puranic texts in a fascinating new light. It also serves as a primer to the general interest reader by tackling some of the questions that modern science is grappling with in its study of the cosmos.

He describes the painful process of preciousness and powerfulness in the life of Joseph, alongside his journey of pain and bitter betrayals: abandonment by his father, mother's tragic death, pregnant wife's cancer diagnosis, sister's separation, and forgiving his estranged father. They changed his perspective on life and brought a paradigm shift that transformed his future. As you read, the author shows you how God breaks to build, tears to transform and crushes to crown. If you are faithful and patient through suffering, you will be surprised by God's process, empowered by His promises, and you will fulfill your life's purpose. This book will inspire hope, even in your most difficult moments. May you trust God and lean on Him during your setbacks. He will lead you by His power.

Through the 144 verses of this text, he explains that the means to having the direct and intuitive realization of brahman - the eternal, immutable Beingness-Knowingness, which is our very nature. He declares, up-front, the unreality of the three entities, the Individual-World-Creator, a model commonly invoked by many philosophical systems to explain the genesis of a “me,” the person, and the world that I live in. Srinivasa Rao gave an elaborate commentary on aparokShAnubhUti in a series of talks, over a period of eight days. These audio commentaries have been transcribed, translated into English, edited, and organized into this book to help Non-Dual aspirants understand the intricacies of Shankara’s Direct Path.

This book deals with the limitations of the objective sciences and also discusses how to prepare the mind so that it can see the truth. Transcending Science, therefore, involves how to transcend the subject-object duality, using the Yoga-Sastra discussed in the Gita and the Upanishads, and how to abide in the knowledge by overcoming all the mental obstacles that arise in the process. This forms the very purpose of life itself.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the history of the first-century church, the ministry of Apostle Paul was well-recorded by Dr. Luke in the Book of Acts. If Dr. Luke had not taken the time to write the Book of Acts, we would probably know hardly anything about him today. The Bible tells us that Barnabas, one of Paul’s companions, introduced him to the other apostles. He was responsible for recognizing Paul’s efficiency and the one who brought him to a minister in Antioch. Sadly, Barnabas himself was not well-known by most Christians. It was Paul’s friends who helped his ministry spread wide and become effective. As you read this book, I pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten your heart and mind to help you understand the importance of Divine guidance and mission through spiritual mentors and be strengthened in faith.

Book excerpt: Women and Sabarimala is an answer to the question “why aren’t women of menstrual age allowed to enter Sabarimala?” This book presents a never-before discussed perspective on the science behind the restrictions on women in the Sabarimala temple. Women and Sabarimala is a rare book and is written from a woman’s perspective, explaining the nature of the temple through India’s traditional knowledge systems, such as Ayurveda, Chakras, Tantra and Agama Shastra. At the same time, the author’s personal experiences simplify the understanding of these deep sciences, providing a glimpse into how temples impact the human physiology and, in particular, women’s menstrual cycles. This book will change the way Hindu temples, especially Sabarimala, are perceived and experienced.
