Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume One of the Classics of Comparative Policy Analysis, "Theory and Methods in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies" includes chapters that apply or further theory and methodology in the comparative study of public policy, in general, and policy analysis, in particular. Throughout the volume the chapters engage in theory building by assessing the relevance of theoretical approaches drawn from the social sciences, as well as some which are distinctive to policy analysis. Other chapters focus on various comparative approaches based on developments and challenges in the methodology of policy analysis. Together, this collection provides a comprehensive scholastic foundation to comparative policy analysis and comparative policy studies. "Theory and Methods in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies" will be of great interest to scholars and learners of public policy and social sciences, as well as to practitioners considering what can be learned or facilitated through methodologically and theoretically sound approaches. The chapters were originally published as articles in the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis which in the last two decades has pioneered the development of comparative public policy. The volume is part of a four-volume series, the Classics of Comparative Policy Analysis including Theories and Methods, Institutions and Governance, Regional Comparisons, and Policy Sectors. Each volume showcases a different new chapter comparing domains of study interrelated with comparative public policy: political science, public administration, governance and policy design, authored by the JCPA co-editors Giliberto Capano, Iris Geva-May, Michael Howlett, Leslie A. Pal and B. Guy Peters.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of eight Case Studies in Data Analysis that appeared in various issues of the Canadian Journal of Statistics (OS) over a twelve year period from 1982 to 1993. One follow-up article to Case Study No.4 is also included in the volume. The OS's Section on Case Studies in Data Analysis was initiated by a former editor who wanted to increase the analytical content of the journal. We were asked to become Section Co-Editors and to develop a format for the case studies. Each case study presents analyses of a real data set by two or more analysts or teams of analysts working independently in a simulated consulting context. The section aimed at demonstrating the process of statistical analysis and the possible diversity of approaches and conclusions. For each case study, the Co-Editors found a set of real Canadian data, posed what they thought was an interesting statistical problem, and recruited analysts working in Canada who were willing to tackle it. The published case studies describe the data and the problem, and present and discuss the analysts' solutions. For some case studies, the providers of the data were invited to contribute their own analysis.

With over 100 years of providing world-class accounting and finance qualifications, the ACCA has significantly raised its international profile in recent years and now supports a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and an MBA.BPP Learning Media is an ACCA Official Publisher. Paper P3 is called Business Analysis, but it covers the whole field of business and corporate strategy, including the choice and implementation of courses of action. For accountants, the overall purpose of studying this subject is to be able to make proper contributions to the strategic management of whatever organisations they find themselves working in. To do this requires the acquisition and considered use of theory lying well outside the mainstream of financial and accountancy topics. In addition to the core material relating to business strategy, there are strong links to the fields of economics, marketing and human behaviour. The P3 Study Text is based on the primary authorities specified in the official syllabus reading list; it is supplemented by a wide range of other material that extends, amplifies and, in some cases, clarifies the basic references. The study material is thus selected and presented in an easily used form that has been approved by the Examiner. The syllabus emphasises the integrated nature of the subject and the Study Text points up the links between the various topics. The ability to discern and use these links is likely to be of great importance in the examination.BPP Learning Media is the publisher of choice for many ACCA students and tuition providers worldwide. This book was released on 2020-08-10 with total page 723 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook offers a unique and original collection of analytical studies in Islamic economics and finance, and constitutes a humble addition to the literature on new economic thinking and global finance. The growing risks stemming from higher debt, slower growth, and limited room for policy maneuver raise concerns about the ability and propensity of modern economies to find effective solutions to chronic problems. It is important to understand the structural roots of inherent imbalance, persistence-in-error patterns, policy and governance failures, as well as moral and ethical failures. Admittedly, finance and economics have their own failures, with abstract theory bearing little relation with the real economy, uncertainties and vicissitudes of economic life. Economic research has certainly become more empirical despite, or perhaps because of, the lack of guidance from theory. The analytics of Islamic economics and finance may not differ from standard frameworks, methods, and techniques used in conventional economics, but may offer new perspectives on the making of financial crises, nature of credit cycles, roots of financial system instability, and determinants of income disparities. The focus is placed on the logical coherence of Islamic economics and finance, properties of Islamic capital markets, workings of Islamic banking, pricing of Islamic financial instruments, and limits of debt financing, fiscal stimulus and conventional monetary policies, inter alia. Readers with investment, regulatory, and academic interests will find the body of analytical evidence to span many areas of economic inquiry, refuting thereby the false argument that given its religious tenets, Islamic economics is intrinsically narrative, descriptive and not amenable to testable implications. Thus, the handbook may contribute toward a redefinition of a dismal science in search for an elusive balance between rationality, ethics and morality, and toward a remodeling of economies based on risk sharing and prosperity for all humanity
