Book excerpt: The 2-volume-book is an updated, reorganized and considerably enlarged version of the previous edition of the Research Problem Book in Analysis (LNM 1043), a collection familiar to many analysts, that has sparked off much research. This new edition, created in a joint effort by a large team of analysts, is, like its predecessor, a collection of unsolved problems of modern analysis designed as informally written mini-articles, each containing not only a statement of a problem but also historical and metho- dological comments, motivation, conjectures and discussion of possible connections, of plausible approaches as well as a list of references. There are now 342 of these mini- articles, almost twice as many as in the previous edition, despite the fact that a good deal of them have been solved!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The international conference entitled "New Trends in Approximation Theory" was held at the Fields Institute, in Toronto, from July 25 until July 29, 2016. The conference was fondly dedicated to the memory of our unique friend and colleague, André Boivin, who gave tireless service in Canada until his very last moment of his life in October 2014. The impact of his warm personality and his fine work on Complex Approximation Theory was reflected by the mathematical excellence and the wide research range of the 37 participants. In total there were 27 talks, delivered by well-established mathematicians and young researchers. In particular, 19 invited lectures were delivered by leading experts of the field, from 8 different countries. The wide variety of presentations composed a mosaic of aspects of approximation theory, highlighting interesting connections with important contemporary areas of Analysis. Primary topics discussed include application of approximation theory (isoperimetric inequalities, construction of entire order-isomorphisms, dynamical sampling); approximation by harmonic and holomorphic functions (especially uniform and tangential approximation), polynomial and rational approximation; zeros of approximants and zero-free approximation; tools used in approximation theory; approximation on complex manifolds, in product domains, and in function spaces; and boundary behaviour and universality properties of Taylor and Dirichlet series.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the existing books in Infinite Dimensional Complex Analysis focus on the problems of locally convex spaces. However, the theory without convexity condition is covered for the first time in this book. This shows that we are really working with a new, important and interesting field. Theory of functions and nonlinear analysis problems are widespread in the mathematical modeling of real world systems in a very broad range of applications. During the past three decades many new results from the author have helped to solve multiextreme problems arising from important situations, non-convex and non linear cases, in function theory. Foundations of Complex Analysis in Non Locally Convex Spaces is a comprehensive book that covers the fundamental theorems in Complex and Functional Analysis and presents much new material. The book includes generalized new forms of: Hahn-Banach Theorem, Multilinear maps, theory of polynomials, Fixed Point Theorems, p-extreme points and applications in Operations Research, Krein-Milman Theorem, Quasi-differential Calculus, Lagrange Mean-Value Theorems, Taylor series, Quasi-holomorphic and Quasi-analytic maps, Quasi-Analytic continuations, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Bolzano's Theorem, Mean-Value Theorem for Definite Integral, Bounding and weakly-bounding (limited) sets, Holomorphic Completions, and Levi problem. Each chapter contains illustrative examples to help the student and researcher to enhance his knowledge of theory of functions. The new concept of Quasi-differentiability introduced by the author represents the backbone of the theory of Holomorphy for non-locally convex spaces. In fact it is different but much stronger than the Frechet one. The book is intended not only for Post-Graduate (M.Sc.& Ph.D.) students and researchers in Complex and Functional Analysis, but for all Scientists in various disciplines whom need nonlinear or non-convex analysis and holomorphy methods without convexity conditions to model and solve problems. bull; The book contains new generalized versions of: i) Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Lagrange Mean-Value Theorem in real and complex cases, Hahn-Banach Theorems, Bolzano Theorem, Krein-Milman Theorem, Mean value Theorem for Definite Integral, and many others. ii) Fixed Point Theorems of Bruower, Schauder and Kakutani's. bull; The book contains some applications in Operations research and non convex analysis as a consequence of the new concept p-Extreme points given by the author. bull; The book contains a complete theory for Taylor Series representations of the different types of holomorphic maps in F-spaces without convexity conditions. bull; The book contains a general new concept of differentiability stronger than the Frechet one. This implies a new Differentiable Calculus called Quasi-differential (or Bayoumi differential) Calculus. It is due to the author's discovery in 1995. bull; The book contains the theory of polynomials and Banach Stienhaus theorem in non convex spaces.

Book excerpt: In Nucleation in Condensed Matter, key theoretical models for nucleation are developed and experimental data are used to discuss their range of validity. A central aim of this book is to enable the reader, when faced with a phenomenon in which nucleation appears to play a role, to determine whether nucleation is indeed important and to develop a quantitative and predictive description of the nucleation behavior. The third section of the book examines nucleation processes in practical situations, ranging from solid state precipitation to nucleation in biological systems to nucleation in food and drink. Nucleation in Condensed Matter is a key reference for an advanced materials course in phase transformations. It is also an essential reference for researchers in the field. Unified treatment of key theories, experimental evaluations and case studies Complete derivation of key models Detailed discussion of experimental measurements Examples of nucleation in diverse systems

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a systematic account of the facts concerning complexes of differential operators on differentiable manifolds. The central place is occupied by the study of general complexes of differential operators between sections of vector bundles. Although the global situation often contains nothing new as compared with the local one (that is, complexes of partial differential operators on an open subset of ]Rn), the invariant language allows one to simplify the notation and to distinguish better the algebraic nature of some questions. In the last 2 decades within the general theory of complexes of differential operators, the following directions were delineated: 1) the formal theory; 2) the existence theory; 3) the problem of global solvability; 4) overdetermined boundary problems; 5) the generalized Lefschetz theory of fixed points, and 6) the qualitative theory of solutions of overdetermined systems. All of these problems are reflected in this book to some degree. It is superfluous to say that different directions sometimes whimsically intersect. Considerable attention is given to connections and parallels with the theory of functions of several complex variables. One of the reproaches avowed beforehand by the author consists of the shortage of examples. The framework of the book has not permitted their number to be increased significantly. Certain parts of the book consist of results obtained by the author in 1977-1986. They have been presented in seminars in Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, and N ovosi birsk.
