Download or read book Polling Systems written by Vladimir Vishnevsky and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the generalization and systematization of the models and methods to study the cyclic polling systems and their application to design and optimize the broadband wireless networks. New polling models adequately describing the performance of the broadband wireless Wi-Fi and Wi-MAX networks with PCF are presented. We provide the definition and classification of polling systems. Much attention is given to methods for analysis and optimization of the polling systems. In addition to classical polling models, we consider the reservation schemes to poll the queues, models with threshold service and new models with limited service, which are of great theoretical and practical interest. We briefly review the priority queueing systems similar to polling ones with priority-type service policy. The numerical results of design and performance estimation of the broadband wireless networks with PCF and adaptive dynamical polling are obtained on the base of polling models and are shown in the text. The book is intended for specialists in the field of stochastic systems, computer network designers, post-graduates and students of the technical universities.

Book Synopsis Discrete Time Analysis of Consolidated Transport Processes by : Eda Özden
Download or read book Discrete Time Analysis of Consolidated Transport Processes written by Eda Özden and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-04 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this work is to develop models for the analysis of consolidated transport processes. With the discrete time queuing models developed for inventory and vehicle consolidation, in particular milkrun systems, a detailed performance evaluation of different design scenarios can be conducted faster than with simulation. Moreover, it is demonstrated how the models can be connected with each other in form of a network analysis, in order to analyze hub-and-spoke networks.

Book Synopsis Frontiers in Queueing by : Jewgeni H. Dshalalow
Download or read book Frontiers in Queueing written by Jewgeni H. Dshalalow and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-01-21 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Queueing systems and networks are being applied to many areas of technology today, including telecommunications, computers, satellite systems, and traffic processes. This timely book, written by 26 of the most respected and influential researchers in the field, provides an overview of fundamental queueing systems and networks as applied to these technologies. Frontiers in Queueing: Models and Applications in Science and Engineering was written with more of an engineering slant than its predecessor, Advances in Queueing: Theory, Methods, and Open Problems. The earlier book was primarily concerned with methods, and was more theoretically oriented. This new volume, meant to be a sequel to the first book, was written by scientists and queueing theorists whose expertise is in technology and engineering, allowing readers to answer questions regarding the technicalities of related methods from the earlier book. Each chapter in the book surveys the classes of queueing models and networks, or the applied methods in queueing, and is followed by a discussion of open problems and future research directions. The discussion of these future trends is especially important to novice researchers, students, and even their advisors, as it provides the perspectives of eminent scientists in each area, thus showing where research efforts should be focused. Frontiers in Queueing: Models and Applications in Science and Engineering also includes applications to vital areas of engineering and technology, specifically, telecommunications, computers and computer networks, satellite systems, traffic processes, and more applied methods such as simulation, statistics, and numerical methods. All researchers, from students to advanced professionals, can benefit from the sound advice and perspective of the contributors represented in this book.
Book Synopsis Heavy Traffic Analysis of Polling Systems in Tandem (Classic Reprint) by : Martin I. Reiman
Download or read book Heavy Traffic Analysis of Polling Systems in Tandem (Classic Reprint) written by Martin I. Reiman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Heavy Traffic Analysis of Polling Systems in Tandem Our results reveal several insights about system behavior. Expressions quantify exactly how the service cycles at a station are forced to synchronize with the service cycles at its upstream neighbor, and how this effect ripples through the tandem network. Since 71, 2 for all i by it follows by that Cji is nondecreasing in i for j A, B; that is, cycle lengths, and hence batch sizes, tend to be larger at downstream stations. Moreover, gal is the same for all i, so that the cycle lengths of each customer type grow in the same proportions as one moves downstream. Also, the virtual workload is very different for i 1 than for station 1: 21-1 is uniformly distributed, but Zji takes on n, 1 distinct values for i 1.
