Download or read book Vibration Analysis of Vehicle Engine Mounting written by Swee Ing Teh and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engine mounting is one of the important components in a vehicle to isolate noise and vibration generated by the engine from the driver and passenger. There are three main types of engine mounting such as passive engine mounting, semi-active engine mounting and active engine mounting. The price of the mounting in the market range from the cheapest which is passive engine mounting to the most expensive type of engine mounting which is the active engine mounting. The effectiveness of the engine mounting vary with the price of the engine mounting with the passive engine mounting being the low quality isolation of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and the active engine mounting being the highest quality isolation of NVH. In order to reduce the vibrations, noise and harshness (NVH) level for vehicles, understanding about the vibration characteristics of the passive engine mounting in detail is crucial. The objective of this project is to analyze the vibration cause by the engine of a Perodua Kenari on the engine mounting system at different engine revolutions per minute (rpm). The experiment is carried out on a stationary vehicle using DasyLab software. Here, analysis on the vibration obtained from the experiment carried out helps to determine the time response and frequency response of the engine at different rpm. From the results obtained, we can understand the characteristics of the passive engine mounting which is the fundamental of engine mounting among the three types. By understanding the characteristics of the passive engine mounting, improvement can be made on the engine mounting in a low cost method to further improve on the NVH isolation quality.

This book was released on 2011 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The hypothesis tested in this work is that the surface vibration and radiated sound of an engine operating under HCCI combustion is dominated by the free vibration response of the engine's structural components to an impulsive loading brought about by the rapid energy release of the HCCI combustion process. Recent work by the author has shown that classical vibration theory describing the dynamic response of a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) oscillator may capture the major characteristics of the engine surface vibrations. Through an experimental investigation of HCCI combustion engine dynamics this model has been developed further. A band level analysis of measured engine noise was employed to determine whether low or high frequency oscillations were dominating the acoustic signature of the engine. The results of the band level analysis showed that the combustion behavior associated with the energy release process occurring in the bulk gas dominates the radiated engine noise when compared to the high frequency gas resonant oscillations. Using an impact hammer technique it was found that the vibration frequencies of oscillation measured on the engine surface do not govern the oscillation frequencies measured during combustion. However it was also found that the oscillation frequencies excited during combustion for all vertical velocity measurement locations were relatively constant regardless of engine firing condition. This result indicates that the frequencies are still governed by constant dynamic properties of the engine however this work has shown they are not local surface vibration modes. An in-depth analysis of the relation between the cylinder pressure power spectral density (PSD) and measured velocity PSD for various velocity measurement locations was undertaken. It was found the form of the cylinder pressure spectral energy directly modulated the surface velocity spectral energy indicative of a shock loading to the system. It was also found that peak HRR is a good indicator of combustion noise level in an HCCI engine. An analytical model based on the SDOF theory was developed to predict relative levels of HCCI combustion induced vibration metrics. This model provides the crucial link between the engine combustion and dynamic properties necessary for modeling of HCCI engine combustion noise"--Abstract, leaf iii.

Download or read book Analysing the Vibration in the Automatic Monitoring of Internal Combustion Engine Operation written by P. Drakatos and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is essential for a vibration monitoring system to be efficient, that the relationship between vibration and the responsible machine component is known. In this work, the main forces and torques developed during the operation of a four-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooked petrol engine, were theoretically analyzed in harmonic components. Also, acceleration and velocity vibrations were measured at four selected positions on the outside surface of the engine. Finally, the correspondence between the discrete frequency present in the spectrum and the vibration excitation forces and torques was determined.

This book was released on 2014 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comfortable ride is one of the main index of comfortable vehicle and engine mount plays important role in it. Automobile industries are in need of reducing the vibration forces to satisfy customer requirements. Vibration of car engine arises from unbalanced forces of engine, which are transmitted from engine to chassis, and road-induced vibration which is controlled by using proper engine mounts and suspension system. The purpose of this thesis is to study the vibration of automobile engine. Engine mount with elastomeric and hydraulic mounts are developed. Their performance evaluated using bond graph on entire frequency range. Engine mount parameters are optimized by using bond graph optimization method. Sources of engine excitation forces are identified. Engine reciprocating and rotating parts contribute in generating vertical excitation forces. Mounts characteristics are analyzed by their excitation frequency and amplitude. Hydraulic engine mount are more effective than rubber mount because their frequency and amplitude response is superior. Fluid analysis is more complex so linear models and theory on two degree of freedom is developed in this thesis. Presently companies are more concern about customer satisfaction in automobile industries. Passenger may get more comfort if vibration induced due to uneven road or engine is reduced. Selection of proper engine mount, location and optimization of mounts' parameter as per application is required. Force transmitted to passengers needs to be reduced. In this thesis, I applied knowledge from my curricular courses like vibration technology and computer aided design of dynamic system, which helped me to build bond and block diagram of whole powertrain system. I used software CAMPG, Matlab, Mathematica and Nastran to optimize parameter. Hydraulic engine mounts can be made more effective by varying the inertia area and stiffness parameter. They can operate on wide frequency range by varying stiffness using inertia area. Transmissibility is reduced which enables more comfortable ride.

This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Internal combustion engines still have a potential for substantial improvements, particularly with regard to fuel efficiency and environmental compatibility. These goals can be achieved with help of control systems. Modeling and Control of Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) addresses these issues by offering an introduction to cost-effective model-based control system design for ICE. The primary emphasis is put on the ICE and its auxiliary devices. Mathematical models for these processes are developed in the text and selected feedforward and feedback control problems are discussed. The appendix contains a summary of the most important controller analysis and design methods, and a case study that analyzes a simplified idle-speed control problem. The book is written for students interested in the design of classical and novel ICE control systems.
