Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: . This reinforced concrete design project details the design process for a 15-story building with dead load, live load, superimposed dead load, and wind load. The analysis of the created model was obtained through E-tabs and all values obtained were verified through detailed manual calculations. A computer model of the building was generated using E-tabs by first defining materials, defining beam, column, slab, and shear wall cross-sections, and running the analysis. The results obtained after analysis will then be used to fulfil [sic] the following: Compute the flexural, shear, and torsional capacity of a chosen beam and create a detailed design of the member. This detailed design includes development length, bar cut-off regions, and ACI-318M beam detailing. Compute the design capacity of an interior column and comparing it to the ultimate load Pu obtained by the software. Manually create an interaction diagram for the chosen column and compare the curve manually drawn to that drawn by E-tabs. Manually design a flat slab with the aid of SAFE. Manually design a beam- slab system with the aid of SAFE. Design of a shear wall in three different stories to account for flexure, shear, and axial force. Seismic analysis of the computer model based on the obtained soil report. The building to be designed is a mixed-use building., that is, the building contains both residential apartments and offices as well. We used piles for the building for this structure, the use of piles is the best alternative option for all other types of foundations. Upon completing the design and analysis of the model, the introduction of seismic forces to the model was then carried out. The purpose of this introduction is to observe the effects and impacts imposed on a structure when seismic forces are taken into consideration. Moreover, a separate model was also created to account for deflection issues experienced by the slab. This extra model involved the addition of embedded columns to decrease cantilever deflections.

Download or read book Design of Modern Highrise Reinforced Concrete Structures written by Hiroyuki Aoyama and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the results of a Japanese national research project carried out in 1988-1993, usually referred to as the New RC Project. Developing advanced reinforced concrete building structures with high strength and high quality materials under its auspices, the project aimed at promoting construction of highrise reinforced concrete buildings in highly seismic areas such as Japan. The project covered all the aspects of reinforced concrete structures, namely materials, structural elements, structural design, construction, and feasibility studies. In addition to presenting these results, the book includes two chapters giving an elementary explanation of modern analytical techniques, i.e. finite element analysis and earthquake response analysis.

This book was released on 2010-12-06 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN Reinforced Concrete Structures explains the underlying principles of reinforced concrete design and covers the analysis, design, and detailing requirements in the 2008 American Concrete Institute (ACI) Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary and the 2009 International Code Council (ICC) International Building Code (IBC). This authoritative resource discusses reinforced concrete members and provides techniques for sizing the cross section, calculating the required amount of reinforcement, and detailing the reinforcement. Design procedures and flowcharts guide you through code requirements, and worked-out examples demonstrate the proper application of the design provisions. COVERAGE INCLUDES: Mechanics of reinforced concrete Material properties of concrete and reinforcing steel Considerations for analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures Requirements for strength and serviceability Principles of the strength design method Design and detailing requirements for beams, one-way slabs, two-way slabs, columns, walls, and foundations

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sound and more modern Eurocode-based approach to design is the global approach, where the structures are considered as whole units, rather than to use traditional element-based design procedures. Although large frameworks and even whole buildings are now routinely analysed using computer packages, structural engineers do not always understand complex three-dimensional behaviour and thus manipulate the stiffness and the location of the bracing units to achieve an optimum structural arrangement. This guide deals with two categories of multi-storey structures. It can be used for the plane stress, stability and frequency analysis of individual bracing units such as frameworks, coupled shear walls and cores. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, it can be used for the three dimensional stress, stability and frequency analysis of whole buildings consisting of such bracing units. The closed-form solutions in the book may also prove to be useful at the preliminary design stage when quick checks are needed with different structural arrangements. Their usefulness cannot be overemphasized for checking the results of a finite element (computer-based) analysis when the input procedure involves tens of thousands of items of data and where mishandling one item of data may have catastrophic consequences. In addition to the critical load, the fundamental frequency, the maximum stresses and the top deflection of frameworks, coupled shear walls, cores and their spatial assemblies, a very important new piece of information is the "safety factor" of the structure (either a single unit or a whole building), which also acts as the performance indicator of the structure. MathCAD worksheets can be downloaded from the book’s accompanying website.
Book Synopsis Reinforced Concrete Design to Eurocode 2 by : Giandomenico Toniolo
Download or read book Reinforced Concrete Design to Eurocode 2 written by Giandomenico Toniolo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-09 with total page 854 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook describes the basic mechanical features of concrete and explains the main resistant mechanisms activated in the reinforced concrete structures and foundations when subjected to centred and eccentric axial force, bending moment, shear, torsion and prestressing. It presents a complete set of limit-state design criteria of the modern theory of RC incorporating principles and rules of the final version of the official Eurocode 2. This textbook examines methodological more than notional aspects of the presented topics, focusing on the verifications of assumptions, the rigorousness of the analysis and the consequent degree of reliability of results. Each chapter develops an organic topic, which is eventually illustrated by examples in each final paragraph containing the relative numerical applications. These practical end-of-chapter appendices and intuitive flow-charts ensure a smooth learning experience. The book stands as an ideal learning resource for students of structural design and analysis courses in civil engineering, building construction and architecture, as well as a valuable reference for concrete structural design professionals in practice.
