Respecto a la competencia dentro del sector, se espera que esta se intensifique, tanto a nivel interempresarial dentro de España como entre países. La competencia estará influenciada por aspectos como el marco regulatorio, los incentivos de los gobiernos y la capacidad de desarrollo tecnológico para hacer frente a los frecuentes cambios dentro del sector. Adicionalmente, es un gran empleador porque aparte del trabajo directo, produce una industria paralela de fabricación de componentes, lo que supone un enorme volumen de mano de obra indirecta. En este trabajo, se realizará un análisis económico-financiero dedos empresas, en este caso, Seat y Volkswagen, que ayudará a entender el escenario en el que operan las empresas que se dedican a esta actividad empresarial, caracterizada por una alta orientación a la exportación y un giro hacia la electrificación. La investigación utiliza sus balances y cuentas de resultados para presentar una serie de ratios para los años2011 a 2021. Estas ratios nos ayudaran a observar cómo Seat cuenta con determinadas fortalezas financieras dado a su correcto nivel liquidez, pese a que Volkswagen tiene el mejor estado financiero y de solvencia global. Por último, veremos cómo el sector se enfrenta a la crisis del Covid-19 y las consecuencias que ha desencadenado para esta industria. En el apartado relativo al análisis empírico, nos centramos en el análisis económico y financiero de los concesionarios de automóviles de tamaño mediano y grande, por ser éstos un eslabón fundamental en el sostenimiento de las ventas de automóviles, al estar en contacto directo tanto con las grandes marcas fabricantes, como con el cliente final, incidiendo de forma muy importante en el número total de ventas en un territorio, y por tanto en el sector productivo de nuestro país. Se complementa con el estudio del margen de beneficio de estas empresas, analizando los factores que influyen en él de forma significativa.
