Com o propósito de associar os programas TQM, à difusão da inovação, trata-se de como se apresenta esta, e como pode ser definida. Discorre-se sobre o processo de comunicação. Por se tratar de um processo de mudança, abordam-se aspectos relacionados a essa na organização, e também, e como implementá-la. Apresenta-se um modelo de roteiro cuja base são os pressupostos da Diffusão da Inovação e a implantação do TQM. Ao discorrer sobre o estudo de caso, procura-se mostrar algumas particularidades da unidade industrial onde foi desenvolvido o presente trabalho, relatando-se as etapas e as mudanças que aconteceram na implantação do programa. Faz-se também se faz uma inter-relação do caso estudado com o roteiro proposto, e, no final, recomendam-se algumas sugestões.

Sua escolha se justifica, de modo especial, pela quase ausência de teorias que avaliem o impacto de abordagens de qualidade total na cultura organizacional, visto que a literatura sobre o tema, está mais voltada para técnicas, ferramentas estatísticas e ISO 9000. No que se refere a revisão da literatura aborda-se em primeiro lugar a qualidade total, seu histórico, suas diferentes filosofias, técnicas e princípios e o atual modelo de qualidade total, que pode ser definido como uma combinação integrada de diversas teorias de gestão. Sobre a cultura organizacional aborda-se a relação entre as solicitações do meio e mudanças culturais e os valores, como componentes chaves que modulam a consciência individual e coletiva das pessoas nas organizações. Também são descritas pesquisas que relacionam as duas variáveis. O método que caracteriza esta pesquisa é o estudo de caso. Como instrumentos de coletas de dados, fontes secundárias e escalas acompanhadas de questionários, foram os principais recursos utilizados. A metodologia de análise adotada é predominantemente descritivo-quantitativa. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram que o processo da qualidade da Trombini, é pautado na adaptação da escola japonesa. Sobre o grau de aderência aos princípios que norteiam a cultura da gestão da qualidade, este é entendido como aderente pelas pessoas que compõem a Trombini. Com relação a cultura organizacional pode-se concluir que houve impacto nesta variável a partir da implantação do TQM, porém não na extensão esperada.
