Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the American Civil War, more than 2,000 regiments of infantry, cavalry, and field artillery mustered in to fight in the conflict. One of these was the 1st South Carolina Volunteers, the first black infantry regiment raised by the Union Army, of which very little is known. Besides being the first in this category, this unit also had other firsts as a black regiment: (1) the first one to be composed of former slaves; (2) to conduct company-level and then regimental operations in the Confederate states of Georgia and Florida; (3) to be in combat against the Confederates; (4) to successfully engage the Rebels and inflict casualties on them; and (5) to be brigaded with white regiments. An We Ob Jubilee is the first installment in a regimental history of the 1st South Carolina Volunteers, later the 33rd United States Colored Troop. It covers the days when this regiment of ex-slaves first saw combat, a critical time period in the early creation of segregated black units when there was plenty of hostility towards them. Their successes would help in the recruitment of thousands more in the second half of the war.

Download or read book Nineteenth Century Freedom Fighters written by Bennie J. McRae and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2006 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1st South Carolina Volunteers, later the 33rd United States Colored Troops, were the first black unit of the Civil War. Preceding the famous 54th Massachusetts--seen in the film Glory--by one year, these South Carolina slaves turned soldiers were noted for their courage, discipline, and pride, continuing to serve the Union cause even while temporarily disbanded. They fought for years with little or no pay, poor equipment, and constant pressure and abuse from both North and South. This brief history is told mostly through the letters and journals of their commanding officer Lt. Col. Charles T. Trowbridge.

Download or read book The Oracle written by Jonathan Cahn and published by Charisma Media. This book was released on 2019-09-03 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times and USA Today Best Seller! Discover the amazing secret of the ages...and the mystery of your life! The Oracle will reveal the mystery behind everything...the past, the present, current events, even what is yet to come! Open the seven doors of revelation—and prepare to be blown away! Jonathan Cahn, author of the New York Times best sellers The Harbinger, The Mystery of the Shemitah, The Book of Mysteries, and The Paradigm, now unveils The Oracle, in which he opens up the Jubilean mysteries and a revelation so big that it lies behind everything from the rise and fall of nations and empires (even America), to the current events of our day, to the future, to end-time prophecy, and much more. Could an ancient prophecy and a mysterious ordinance given in a Middle Eastern desert over three thousand years ago be determining the events of our day? Could some of the most famous people of modern history and current events be secretly linked to this mystery-even a modern president of the United States? Could this ancient revelation pinpoint the events of our times down to the year, month, and day of their occurring? Could a mysterious phenomenon be manifesting on the world stage on an exact timetable determined from ancient times? Could these manifestations have altered-and now be altering-the course of world events? Jonathan Cahn takes the reader on a journey to find the man called the Oracle. One by one each of the Jubilean mysteries will be revealed through the giving of a vision. The Oracle will uncover the mysteries of The Stranger, The Lost City, The Man With the Measuring Line, The Land of Seven Wells, The Birds, The Number of the End, The Man in the Black Robe, The Prophet's Song, The Matrix of Years, The Day of the Lions, The Awakening of the Dragon, and much more. The reader will discover the ancient scrolls that contain the appointed words that have determined the course of world history from the onset of modern times up to our day. The revelation is so big that it will involve and open up the mysteries of everything and everyone from Mark Twain to Moses, from King Nebuchadnezzar to Donald Trump, from the fall of empires to the rise of America, from a mystery hidden in a desert cave to another in an ancient scroll, from the palace of the Persian Empire to the US Senate, from the Summer of Love to the Code of Babylon, and much, much more. Ultimately the Oracle will reveal the secret that lies behind end-time prophecy and the mystery of the end of the age. As with The Harbinger and The Book of Mysteries, Cahn reveals the mysteries through a narrative. A traveler is given seven keys; each will open up one of seven doors. Behind each door lies a stream of mysteries. The reader will be taken on a journey of angels and prophetic revelations waiting to be discovered behind each of the seven doors-the ancient secrets that lie behind the world-changing events of modern times-and revelations of what is yet to come. Hailed as a mind-blowing masterpiece, The Oracle will reveal mysteries that are absolutely real, amazing, stunning, mind-blowing, and life-changing. Prepare to be blown away. Book excerpt: A willful New York debutante travels the rugged Great Plains for a future in the flourishing American West in this New York Times bestseller. Charting the trail across the Great Plains from New York City to the Mexican territory of California, a headstrong couple embarks on a new life in this classic work of historical fiction as unforgiving, moving, and unpredictable as the frontier. A recent finishing school graduate, eighteen-year-old Garnet Cameron is desperate for direction. Too driven for the restrictive manners of the upper class, Garnet is naturally drawn to Oliver Hale, a frontier trader. Unlike the men Garnet is accustomed to, Oliver treats her as his equal and respects her independence. His tales of adventure on the plains thrill her. And his proposal of marriage is accepted. Garnet eagerly grabs hold of the promise and prospect of an exciting future, only to discover how ill-prepared she is for the punishing landscape of the Jubilee Trail and the even harsher realities of human nature. Adapted into a feature film, Jubilee Trail is a classic novel of a woman in the West, beloved not only for the rebelliousness and resilience of its heroine, but for its authenticity, grand sweep, unsparing intimacy, and honest portrayal of the survivors and victims—as well as the victors and villains—of a defiant American wilderness.
