Being familiar with the workmanlike manner in which a dragonfly can sheer oil" a real fly's wing, I was unwilling that this one should pay similar attentions to my artificial one, so I took up the rod and shook him off. He returned several times, however, in the most pertinacious manner, until I laid the rOll flat on the ground. There are three British genera. The distinguishingfeature of this genus consists in the anal angle of the posterior wings, which is rounded in both sexes. It contains one British representative. 2. FoRMosUs-(Linden).---1'his is the largest British and European species of dragonfly, measuring 34 lines in length, and 46 lines in expanse.
