Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation of Regions of Separated Laminar Flow by : Donald E. Gault
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of Regions of Separated Laminar Flow written by Donald E. Gault and published by . This book was released on 1955 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results are presented from an investigation of regions of separated flow caused by separation of the laminar boundary layer (laminar-separation "bubbles"). The investigation was undertaken to obtain measurements which would define a large number of these bubbles for a wide range of Reynolds numbers and pressure gradients. In this manner, existing physical interpretations of the flow along a bubble could be studied in greater detail than in the past and, at the same time, it was hoped that the data would provide further insight into the conditions which control the occurrence and extent of a bubble.

Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation on the Flow Around a Circular Cylinder in the First Critical Subregion by : Hyun Jin Kim
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation on the Flow Around a Circular Cylinder in the First Critical Subregion written by Hyun Jin Kim and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation has been carried out on the flow transitions around a smooth circular cylinder in the initial stage of the critical Reynolds number region, where drag coefficient starts to decrease. In this Reynolds number region, intermitent reattachment of the separated boundary layer was found, while only initial separation position excursion was observed in the subcritical region. Large spanwise variations in the surface pressure and wake velocity observed in the first critical subregion were associated with local wake width pulsations caused by spanwise phase variations in the unsteady flow reattachment.

Book Synopsis Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions by : Holger Babinsky
Download or read book Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.
Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation of Shock Wave -- Boundary Layer Interaction Dynamics by : Gerald W. Braun
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of Shock Wave -- Boundary Layer Interaction Dynamics written by Gerald W. Braun and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wind tunnel tests were performed which simulated the flow pulsations which are sometimes produced in engine inlets by shock-boundary layer interaction. Shock Mach numbers from 1.2 to 1.4 were used and the boundary layer was influenced by air bleeding in or sucking off. The flow was observed by shodowgraph and static and total pressures were measured by means of low frequency and high frequency response instruments. Static wall pressures, boundary layer pressure profiles, and total pressure distributions across several tunnel cross sections were plotted. The data were analyzed with respect to their rms value and power spectral density. A literature survey and an analytical investigation of the pulsations in a diffuser with nonviscous flow are included. (Author).

Book Synopsis Infrared Thermography for Thermo-Fluid-Dynamics by : Tommaso Astarita
Download or read book Infrared Thermography for Thermo-Fluid-Dynamics written by Tommaso Astarita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-04 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared thermography is a measurement technique that enables to obtain non intrusive measurements of surface temperatures. One of the interesting features of this technique is its ability to measure a full two dimensional map of the surface temperature and for this reason it has been widely used as a flow visualization technique. Since the temperature measurements can be extremely accurate it is possible, by using a heat flux sensor, also to measure convective heat transfer coefficient distributions on a surface making the technique de facto quantitative. This book, starting from the basic theory of infrared thermography and heat flux sensor guides, both the experienced researcher and the young student, in the correct application of this powerful technique to various practical problems. A significant number of examples and applications are also examined in detail.
