When he talked about trusts, unlike Roosevelt, he actually wanted to do something about them. He talked about the Referendum, Recall and Initiative. He talked about them not as grand ideas, but as practical means of extending democracy to the people he represented. The only downfall of this book is that it was published in the middle of his career. But it still burns with the passions that informed that missing period. Annotations have been added to give you some understanding of the people mentioned in the text.
