Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes and compares career intent of female and male Air Force personnel. The data for the study were obtained from the Quality of Air Force Life survey conducted in February 1980. The main analysis techniques used were the Automatic Interaction Detection (AID) algorithm and stepwise regression. The study analyzed the responses of female and male officer and enlisted personnel in three groups: the total population, first term personnel, and personnel with four to ten years of service. The primary conclusion of the study is that different factors affect the career intent for women and men. Career intent for female officers is largely dependent upon job satisfaction, whereas, attitude of spouse of immediate family is the major influence for male officer and enlisted personnel. Extrinsic factors, such as a high salary and the belief they can get a better break in civilian life, are important to enlisted women. Job satisfaction was also examined for all male and female officer and enlisted personnel. The results indicate that job challenge and preparation for future responsibility are major factors of job satisfaction. The relationship with the supervisor or superior is also an important factor of female job satisfaction. (Author).

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 22 (thesis year 1977) a total of 10,658 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 227 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 22 reports theses submitted in 1977, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Synopsis United States Air Force Security Police Job Satisfaction and Career Intent: 1975 Versus 1977 by : Peter E. King
Download or read book United States Air Force Security Police Job Satisfaction and Career Intent: 1975 Versus 1977 written by Peter E. King and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes and compares job satisfaction and career intent between 1975 and 1977 for Security Police personnel. The sources of the data are 564 respondents from the 1975 and 1977 USAF Quality of Air Force Life Surveys. The analysis techniques included the Automatic Interaction Detection (AID) algorithm, t-Test of Significance, Stepwise Linear Regression, and Principal Component Analysis. A detailed analysis was made of the entire population and for personnel with less than ten years service. The primary conclusion from the analysis is that, for Security Police personnel, the overall level of job satisfaction and expression of career intent are essentially unchanged between 1975 and 1977. Additional conclusions drawn are that SP personnel are better qualified and more satisfied with many factors of their jobs, but are less satisfied with the Economic and Equity aspects of their Air Force lives. It is suggested that the lack of significant change in job satisfaction and career intent was caused by the gains on the job being offset by the perceived losses in other facets of Air Force life.

Book Synopsis Expectancy Theory as a Predictive Model of Career Intent, Job Satisfaction, and Institution-Occupation Orientation Among Air Force Officer Scientists and Engineers by : Logan M. Lewis
Download or read book Expectancy Theory as a Predictive Model of Career Intent, Job Satisfaction, and Institution-Occupation Orientation Among Air Force Officer Scientists and Engineers written by Logan M. Lewis and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research study examines career intent, job satisfaction, and institution-occupation orientation among members of the scientific and engineering career fields (26XX and 28XX, respectively) using a model of behavioral choice and motivation known as Expectancy Theory. The research was conducted via analysis of questionnaires from 617 Air Force scientists and engineers located at various bases and stations throughout the United States. The combinatorial and predictive properties of the Expectancy Theory model were tested using both within-person and across-person methodologies for 20 separate career outcomes. The data for the career intent predictions were utilized for the whole sample, and then tested separately for the five-year groups represented. In all, the Expectancy Theory model was quite powerful in predicting career intent. In addition to the actual predictive testing, this report includes an extensive literature review of Expectancy Theory and some analysis of the behavior of its components in the tests along with recommendations for improvement of the methodology for measuring the components.
Book Synopsis The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention by : Kenn Finstuen
Download or read book The Effects of Job Satisfaction on Air Force Enlistee Retention written by Kenn Finstuen and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research was to assess the concurrent and predictive validity of occupational attitudes, as measured by the Air Force Occupational Attitude Inventory (OAI), in relation to global job satisfaction, reenlistment intent, and actual reenlistment behavior of first-term enlisted airmen. The OAI was administered to two samples of airmen consisting of 1,217 personnel in 1973 and 4,784 personnel in 1975. When considered as a set, the OAI items were found to bear a strong relationship to global job satisfaction, a somewhat lesser relationship to reenlistment behavior. These relationships maintained their significance when the baseline effects of 53 biographical and job-related variables were held constant in regression analyses. Findings indicated that global job satisfaction was associated with the following: job challenge, the use of airman abilities, and feelings of accomplishment. Reenlistment intent and actual reenlistment were most highly associated with satisfaction with pay and benefits as compared to civilian jobs, the consideration the Air Force gave enlistees, removal of irritants, and contributions to the national defense. Cross-validation of the 1973 and 1975 equations revealed that these relationships were stable through time.
Book Synopsis Family Factors and the Career Intent of Air Force Enlisted Personnel by :
Download or read book Family Factors and the Career Intent of Air Force Enlisted Personnel written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of spouse attitudes and attributes on the career intent and job related attitudes of Air Force enlisted personnel was assessed using the Air Force's new Family Survey (AFFS) to measure spouse attitudes and the Organizational Assessment Package to assess the Air Force member's career intent and job attitudes. The Factor structure of the AFFS confirmed its potential utility for assessing critical family variables. Spouses generally viewed Air Force life as more stressful than civilian life, yet most continued to be supportive of and committed to the Air Force. Prominent sources of stress for these families were disruptions caused by work schedules, TDYs, and military exercises and recalls. Reduced employment opportunities and a reduction in family income attendant upon transfer to a new duty location were also viewed as having a negative impact on the family. It proved possible to predict the career intent and job satisfaction of Air Force members from spouse attitudes and other family variables, most importantly from the compatibility of the marital pair's work schedules, the positiveness of the spouse's view of the Air Force and, for career intent only, the perceived stressfulness of the Air Force member's job and of Air Force life for the family. Implications for Air Force policy are briefly discussed.
