This book was released on 1995 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CE TRAVAIL PROPOSE UNE ETUDE DES METHODES D'ANALYSE NUMERIQUE DANS LE DOMAINE DES CIRCUITS NON LINEAIRES MICROONDES, BASEE SUR L'AMELIORATION DES PROPRIETES DE CONVERGENCE DES ALGORITHMES. LA PRINCIPALE METHODE CLASSIQUE DE LA RESOLUTION DES EQUATIONS D'EQUILIBRAGE HARMONIQUE EST PRESENTEE. ELLE EST SUIVIE PAR LES DESCRIPTIONS DES METHODES ABS, QUASI-NEWTON ET DE RELAXATION. LES METHODES DE TYPE ABS SONT DES METHODES ITERATIVES DE RESOLUTION DONT LES PROPRIETES DE CONVERGENCE PEUVENT APPORTER UNE AMELIORATION DU TEMPS DE CALCUL GLOBAL. A PARTIR DE L'APPLICATION D'EQUILIBRAGE HARMONIQUE, IL EST MONTRE QUE LA CONVERGENCE PRES DE LA SOLUTION N'EST PAS ASSUREE. LES METHODES QUASI-NEWTON EVITENT DE CALCULER DES DERIVEES PARTIELLES POUR CONSTRUIRE LE JACOBIEN EN LE REMPLACANT PAR UNE APPROXIMATION. ELLES LAISSENT ENVISAGER UNE REDUCTION DU COUT DE CALCUL. CEPENDANT, LE GAIN OBTENU PAR RAPPORT A LA METHODE DE NEWTON-RAPHSON RESTE FAIBLE, DE L'ORDRE DE 2. LES METHODES DE RELAXATION, QUANT A ELLES, UTILISENT LES ITERATIONS NON LINEAIRES LINEAIRES QUI PEUVENT REMPLACER LA RESOLUTION EXACTE DE L'EQUATION DE RECURRENCE PAR UNE RESOLUTION APPROCHEE. IL EST POSSIBLE DE REALISER UNE DIMINUTION DU COUT DE CALCUL A CONDITION QUE LE JACOBIEN SOIT DIAGONALEMENT DOMINANT, CE QUI N'EST PAS TOUJOURS LE CAS

Book Synopsis Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals by : Agnes Buka
Download or read book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals written by Agnes Buka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book intends to give a state-of-the-art overview of flexoelectricity, a linear physical coupling between mechanical (orientational) deformations and electric polarization, which is specific to systems with orientational order, such as liquid crystals. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.

Book Synopsis The Structural Representation of Proximity Matrices with MATLAB by : Lawrence Hubert
Download or read book The Structural Representation of Proximity Matrices with MATLAB written by Lawrence Hubert and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Structural Representation of Proximity Matrices with MATLAB presents and demonstrates the use of functions (by way of M-files) within a MATLAB computational environment to effect a variety of structural representations for the proximity information that is assumed to be available on a set of objects. The representations included in the book have been developed primarily in the behavioral sciences and applied statistical literature (e.g., in psychometrics and classification), although interest in these topics now extends more widely to such fields as bioinformatics and chemometrics. Throughout the book, two kinds of proximity information are analyzed: one-mode and two-mode. One-mode proximity data are defined between the objects from a single set and are usually given in the form of a square symmetric matrix; two-mode proximity data are defined between the objects from two distinct sets and are given in the form of a rectangular matrix. In addition, there is typically the flexibility to allow the additive fitting of multiple structures to either the given one- or two-mode proximity information.
