The key to their success: go where no ordinary soldier would go and no VC would expect them. Though death reigned as king in the jungles of Vietnam, Gary Smith considered it a privilege and an honor to serve under the officers and with the men of Underwater Demolition Team Twelve and SEAL Team 1. Download or read book Xen written by Ezra Buckley and published by Wildcard Interactive. This book was released on 2021-03-01 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world devoid of rites of passage, Ezra Buckley finds himself confronted with the genuine prospect of having a life-changing, Liminal experience in the woods of Big Sur. What is it that he experiences? Is it the legendary Watchers of Big Sur phenomena or something else? Will he survive it? Is it even real? Xen is a work that confronts the questions of identity, modernity, life, the other, and the place for rites of passage in the modern world. “…wildly creative experiments with form…through a down-to-earth lens and with a sense of humor. … I felt spoken to many times as Ezra articulated his own frustrations with life and with his own expectations of the world.” – DAVID AMITO, award-winning Actor. Writer, Producer, Director of Antrum “This is tantalizing, intriguing, and weird stuff and we recommend it highly.” -Original Falcon Newsletter “What I appreciate about Buckley’s book is the sense of desperate and furious will-to-life/power, coupled with a playfulness that is wonderful.” – Julian Langer “I just finished reading this a few minutes ago. I guess “finished” isn’t really the correct wording… because I’ve really just begun.” Reader on Reddit

Book Synopsis The Therapeutic Use of Ayahuasca by : Beatriz Caiuby Labate
Download or read book The Therapeutic Use of Ayahuasca written by Beatriz Caiuby Labate and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-22 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a series of perspectives on the therapeutic potential of the ritual and clinical use of the Amazonian hallucinogenic brew ayahuasca in the treatment and management of various diseases and ailments, especially its role in psychological well-being and substance dependence. Biomedical and anthropological data on the use of ayahuasca for treating depression, PTSD, and substance dependence in different settings, such as indigenous contexts, neo-shamanic rituals, contemporary therapeutic circles, and in ayahuasca religions, in both South and North America, are presented and critiqued. Though multiple anecdotal reports on the therapeutic use of ayahuasca exist, there has been no systematic and dense reflection on the topic thus far. The book brings the therapeutic use of ayahuasca to a new level of public examination and academic debate. The texts in this volume stimulate discussion on methodological, ethical, and political aspects of research and will enhance the development of this emergent field of studies.
