Book Synopsis Spectral Theory of Non-Commutative Harmonic Oscillators: An Introduction by : Alberto Parmeggiani
Download or read book Spectral Theory of Non-Commutative Harmonic Oscillators: An Introduction written by Alberto Parmeggiani and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-22 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume describes the spectral theory of the Weyl quantization of systems of polynomials in phase-space variables, modelled after the harmonic oscillator. The main technique used is pseudodifferential calculus, including global and semiclassical variants. The main results concern the meromorphic continuation of the spectral zeta function associated with the spectrum, and the localization (and the multiplicity) of the eigenvalues of such systems, described in terms of “classical” invariants (such as the periods of the periodic trajectories of the bicharacteristic flow associated with the eiganvalues of the symbol). The book utilizes techniques that are very powerful and flexible and presents an approach that could also be used for a variety of other problems. It also features expositions on different results throughout the literature.

Book Synopsis Computational Thinking by : Paolo Ferragina
Download or read book Computational Thinking written by Paolo Ferragina and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a gentle motivation and introduction to computational thinking, in particular to algorithms and how they can be coded to solve significant, topical problems from domains such as finance, cryptography, Web search, and data compression. The book is suitable for undergraduate students in computer science, engineering, and applied mathematics, university students in other fields, high-school students with an interest in STEM subjects, and professionals who want an insight into algorithmic solutions and the related mindset. While the authors assume only basic mathematical knowledge, they uphold the scientific rigor that is indispensable for transforming general ideas into executable algorithms. A supporting website contains examples and Python code for implementing the algorithms in the book.
Book Synopsis PASCAL User Manual and Report by : Kathleen Jensen
Download or read book PASCAL User Manual and Report written by Kathleen Jensen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A preliminary version o~ the programming language Pascal was dra~ted in 1968. It ~ollowed in its spirit the A1gol-6m and Algo1-W 1ine o~ 1anguages. A~ter an extensive deve10pment phase, a~irst compiler became operational in 197m, and pub1ication ~ollowed a year 1ater (see Re~erences 1 and 8, p.1m4). The growing interest in the deve10pment of compilers ~or other computers ca11ed ~or a conso1idation o~ Pascal, and two years of experience in the use o~ the 1anguage dictated a few revisions. This 1ed in 1973 to the pub1ication o~ a Revised Report and a de~inition o~ a 1anguage representation in terms of the ISO cha:.:.acter set. This booklet consists o~ two parts: The User Manual, and the Revised Report. The ManUAl is directed to those who have previous1y acquired some ~ami1iarity with computer programming, and who wish to get acquainted with the 1anguage Pascal. Hence, the style o~ the Manual is that o~ a tutorial, and many examp1e~ are inc1uded to demonstrate the various ~eatures o~ Pascal. Summarising tab1es and syntax speci~ications are added as Appendices. The Report is inc1uded in this booklet to serve as a concise, u1timate reference ~or both programmers and imp1ementors. It defines stAndArd Pascal which constitutes a common base between various implementations of the 1anguage.

Book Synopsis Categorical Quantum Models and Logics by : Chris Heunen
Download or read book Categorical Quantum Models and Logics written by Chris Heunen and published by Amsterdam University Press. This book was released on 2009-11-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation studies the logic behind quantum physics, using category theory as the principal tool and conceptual guide. To do so, principles of quantum mechanics are modeled categorically. These categorical quantum models are justified by an embedding into the category of Hilbert spaces, the traditional formalism of quantum physics. In particular, complex numbers emerge without having been prescribed explicitly. Interpreting logic in such categories results in orthomodular property lattices, and furthermore provides a natural setting to consider quantifiers. Finally, topos theory, incorporating categorical logic in a refined way, lets one study a quantum system as if it were classical, in particular leading to a novel mathematical notion of quantum-
Book Synopsis Arithmetic Geometry of Logarithmic Pairs and Hyperbolicity of Moduli Spaces by : Marc-Hubert Nicole
Download or read book Arithmetic Geometry of Logarithmic Pairs and Hyperbolicity of Moduli Spaces written by Marc-Hubert Nicole and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook introduces exciting new developments and cutting-edge results on the theme of hyperbolicity. Written by leading experts in their respective fields, the chapters stem from mini-courses given alongside three workshops that took place in Montréal between 2018 and 2019. Each chapter is self-contained, including an overview of preliminaries for each respective topic. This approach captures the spirit of the original lectures, which prepared graduate students and those new to the field for the technical talks in the program. The four chapters turn the spotlight on the following pivotal themes: The basic notions of o-minimal geometry, which build to the proof of the Ax–Schanuel conjecture for variations of Hodge structures; A broad introduction to the theory of orbifold pairs and Campana's conjectures, with a special emphasis on the arithmetic perspective; A systematic presentation and comparison between different notions of hyperbolicity, as an introduction to the Lang–Vojta conjectures in the projective case; An exploration of hyperbolicity and the Lang–Vojta conjectures in the general case of quasi-projective varieties. Arithmetic Geometry of Logarithmic Pairs and Hyperbolicity of Moduli Spaces is an ideal resource for graduate students and researchers in number theory, complex algebraic geometry, and arithmetic geometry. A basic course in algebraic geometry is assumed, along with some familiarity with the vocabulary of algebraic number theory.
