Book excerpt: 50% OFF! Holiday Season Special Price! The first ever English language biography of Masayoshi Son, Japan’s foremost IT revolutionary and SoftBank’s founder, chairman and CEO. Based on over twenty years of in-depth interviews and study, Atsuo Inoue brings Son’s story to life in this translation of the Japanese best seller. From his humble beginnings as a son of Korean immigrants living in a shack in southwest Japan, to his aim to become No. 1 in the world as CEO of one of Japan’s largest Internet companies, Inoue richly details Son’s inspiring journey and the challenges he faced along the way. Told from the viewpoint of those who know him best—relatives, friends and business partners from around the world—the story reveals the truth about “rising Son,” the man who made “Information Revolution – Happiness for Everyone” his life’s mission. Son was born in 1957 as a third generation Korean resident in Japan’s Saga Prefecture. He entered one of the Prefecture’s most prestigious high schools, attending for just the first semester before dropping out to venture to the US. He was only 16 years old. In the US, he acquired high school graduate equivalency in just three weeks through accelerated study and then entered the University of California, Berkeley. As a college student, he earned his first million dollars for the invention of an automatic voice translator. Then he came back to Japan to found SoftBank. Continuously realizing his aspirations, he made SoftBank into a multibillion dollar enterprise. He attributes his success to making decisions with extraordinary speed and by leveraging his friendships with innovators, including his close friend Steve Jobs. “I will create a self-sustaining enterprise that lasts over 300 years.” Such bold statements have garnered Son attention from all over the world. But who is the real Masayoshi Son? The author Atsuo Inoue has covered Son’s career closely as a journalist and his insightful observations vividly paints an intimate portrait of the charismatic business revolutionary, who blends cool rational thought with fiery passion and genius. “I’ve never seen such a comprehensive account of my life.” –Masayoshi Son, Chairman & CEO of SoftBank Corp.

Book Synopsis Hexagon (KH-9) Mapping Camera Program and Evolution by : Maurice G. Burnett
Download or read book Hexagon (KH-9) Mapping Camera Program and Evolution written by Maurice G. Burnett and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States developed the Gambit and Hexagon programs to improve the nation's means for peering over the iron curtain that separated western democracies from east European and Asian communist countries. The inability to gain insight into vast "denied areas" required exceptional systems to understand threats posed by US adversaries. Corona was the first imagery satellite system to help see into those areas. Hexagon began as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) program with the first concepts proposed in 1964. The CIA's primary goal was to develop an imagery system with Corona-like ability to image wide swaths of the earth, but with resolution equivalent to Gambit. Such a system would afford the United States even greater advantages monitoring the arms race that had developed with the nation's adversaries. The Hexagon mapping camera flew on 12 of the 20 Hexagon missions. It proved to be a remarkably efficient and prodigious producer of imagery for mapping purposes. The mapping camera system was successful by every standard including technical capabilities, reliability, and capacity.

Download or read book GraphITA 2011 written by Luca Ottaviano and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-06 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, graphene based research has witnessed a tremendous explosion. This two dimensional "dream" material has come into the main spotlight of fundamental and applied research in diverse nano-science fields, but surprisingly rapidly, it has also attracted the interest of major stakeholders in the private sector (especially industries in the ICT sector). The technological exploitation of graphene can be considered to be based on four fundamental interconnected wide topics: growth and synthesis methods, nano-structuring and tailoring of graphene properties, structural and physical characterization, and device design and applications. This proceedings book presents the results highlighted at GraphITA 2011, a multidisciplinary and intersectorial European Workshop on Synthesis, Characterization and Technological Exploitation of Graphene. The workshop realised on 15-18 May at Gran Sasso National Laboratories (Assegi-L'Aquila, Italy) has brought together scientists and engineers working on different technological uses of graphene in a multidisciplinary and multisectorial (academia/industry) environment.
Book Synopsis Self-Assembly of Nanostructures and Patchy Nanoparticles by : Shafigh Mehraeen
Download or read book Self-Assembly of Nanostructures and Patchy Nanoparticles written by Shafigh Mehraeen and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-11-04 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Top-down approaches are currently the main contributor of fabricating microelectronic devices. However, the prohibitive cost of numerous technological steps in these approaches is the main obstacle to further progress. Furthermore, a large number of applications necessitate fabrication of complex and ultra-small devices that cannot be made using these approaches. New approaches based on natural self-assembly of matter need to be developed to allow for fabrication of micro and nanoelectronic devices. Self-assembly of nanostructures is a dynamic field, which explores physics of these structures and new ways to fabricate them. However, the major problem is how to control the properties of the nanostructures resulting from low dimensionality. This book presents recent advances made to address this problem, and fabricate nanostructures using self-assembly.

So, the question arises — how to develop software capable of handling a high level of unpredictability. With this question in mind, this book explores how the hexagonal architecture can help build robust, change-tolerable, maintainable, and cloud-native applications that can meet the needs of enterprises seeking to increase their profits while dealing with uncertainties. This book starts by uncovering the secrets of the hexagonal architecture’s building blocks, such as entities, use cases, ports, and adapters. You’ll learn how to assemble business code in the domain hexagon, create features with ports and use cases in the application hexagon, and make your software compatible with different technologies by employing adapters in the framework hexagon. In this new edition, you’ll learn about the differences between a hexagonal and layered architecture and how to apply SOLID principles while developing a hexagonal system based on a real-world scenario. Finally, you’ll get to grips with using Quarkus to turn your hexagonal application into a cloud-native system. By the end of this book, you’ll be able to develop robust, flexible, and maintainable systems that will stand the test of time. What you will learn Apply SOLID principles to the hexagonal architecture Assemble business rules algorithms using the specified design pattern Combine domain-driven design techniques with hexagonal principles to create powerful domain models Employ adapters to enable system compatibility with various protocols such as REST, gRPC, and WebSocket Create a module and package structure based on hexagonal principles Use Java modules to enforce dependency inversion and ensure software component isolation Implement Quarkus DI to manage the life cycle of input and output ports Who this book is forThis book is for software architects and Java developers looking to improve code maintainability and enhance productivity with an architecture that allows changes in technology without compromising business logic.
