Cette avancée spectaculaire est à mettre en parallèle avec les progrès dans le domaine de la simulation numérique des écoulements (CFD). Les développements en cours pour bâtir une méthodologie associant expériences et simulations numériques sont présentés : il s'agit de la SAO ou soufflerie assistée par ordinateur. Enfin, on propose un bilan de la situation actuelle de l'aérodynamique expérimentale à partir d'une vision prospective de cette discipline et d'une définition des problèmes auxquels elle se trouvera confrontée dans les années à venir.
