Book Synopsis Admiring the Goose-steps by : Ion Grumeza

Book excerpt: Admiring the Goose-Steps details six years of Hitler's Third Reich, 1933-1939, a time when his nation was equally feared and admired by the world. Grumeza's use of eyewitness testimonies, memoirs, and journalists' reports tell the story of the rise and reign of one of the most terrifying dictatorships of all time. The book illustrates how the historical, political, economic, and ideological factors at the time, coupled with Hitler's own personal appeal, allowed him to create a deadly war machine while the rest of the world stood idle. Grumeza's comprehensive account addresses these issues from a long avoided perspective, one that focuses on Hitler's achievements and the excitement of the German people and most of the world. The text and pictures provide insight on how Hitler's mostly bloodless Nazi revolution transformed into a gruesome reign of genocide and war, and how this relates to terrorism today. Book jacket.

Book excerpt: And the winner is...JOE GRIMM! He scored 24 KOs in a row and was never knocked out. He was a winner in the ring, and a winner in life. This is the story of a bantam boxer, his chaperoning older brother, and the time in which they lived. It is the 1920s, and there are boxing clubs in nearly every city in America. Joe Grimm weighs 118 pounds and is flat-footed—but he has a punch and a KO record that draw leading managers to add Joe to their stables. He trains in the same gym as Jim Braddock, the future Cinderella Man. Joe’s awesome winning streak is interrupted when he and his brother are called home. He leaves the arenas with their cheering crowds and works as a butcher in his grocery shop bought with ring money for his family. Now the character traits that made him a boxing wonder make him a success in business. The Gentleman Boxer captures the excitement and hope of an era when anything was possible and anyone could become a hero—or a champion. It is a tribute to the thousands of forgotten bantam prizefighters in the Golden Age of Boxing.

This is the poignant and yet intriguing story of a dog, a teacher, and an oppressive education system that keeps them both fighting for love, for life—and for each other, emotionally, spiritually, and in every other way in which dogs and humans connect. Duncan and Frank’s journey, both through the natural parks that beckon them, and through the re-creation of the most important nation on earth, the Imagine Nation, will pull you in and tug at your heartstrings, long after you have turned the final page. Book Synopsis The Anatomy of Love by : Hugo Bradford
Download or read book The Anatomy of Love written by Hugo Bradford and published by Hugo Bradford. This book was released on with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some teach you how to love and stay in love. But nobody tells you what love is or how to acquire it when you don’t have it. How are you supposed to love someone and find happiness if you don’t love yourself, or find happiness within, first? Hugo Bradford’s life changed in an instant when his relationship ended with who might have been the love of his life. Then, he failed once again when he decided to be a different man—a better man. Hugo then set on a path of introspection and healing by researching through the sciences and submerging himself with the voices of experts, experience, and the opinion of women. All to answer one underlying question—what is love? The Anatomy of Love is as sensible as it is perceptive. Tackling the third-most searched word worldwide. Love—A simple, four-letter word that produces over fourteen billion search results on search engines across the internet. Is love something as simple as an evolutionary trait of consciousness and chemical potion in our brains? Or does it mean something else, something we can’t yet explain? This book reveals fundamental truths and uses appropriate, applicable knowledge in ways that work for everyone.
Book Synopsis Twixt Greek and Turk by : M. Valentine CHIROL
Download or read book Twixt Greek and Turk written by M. Valentine CHIROL and published by Astana Yayınları. This book was released on 2020-09-04 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE political events of the day have drawn so much of public attention to the regions which I have lately visited, that a sketch of their actual condition as I saw them in the autumn of last year, may not prove unacceptable at the present moment. I have not written in order to plead either this cause or that one. I am not a Philo-Turk, nor am I a Phil-Hellenic, or a Philo-Wallach, or a PhiloAlbanian, or a Philo-Bulgarian; but I believe that a great change is at hand in the southeastern peninsula of Europe, in which these rising nationalities have each its part to play. The old Ottoman empire-the Mussulman theocracy - is doomed, on this side of the Bosphorus at least. Whether its name and the shadow its power be still allowed to endure, or whether the "bag and baggage" policy be carried out to the bitter end, a new order of things is in process of· evolution. If my jottings by the way can help the reader to a clearer apprehension of the grave events which must sooner or later remodel the map of South-eastern Europe, my journey will not have been undertaken in vain. Some of the notes embodied in the following pages have already appeared in 'Blackwood's Magazine,' in the 'Pall Mall Gazette, and in the 'Fortnightly Review' and I am indebted to Mr J. Morley for his kind permission to make use of the last.
