Book Synopsis Generalized Associated Legendre Functions and Their Applications by : Nina Opanasivna Virchenko
Download or read book Generalized Associated Legendre Functions and Their Applications written by Nina Opanasivna Virchenko and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The various types of special functions have become essential tools for scientists and engineers. One of the important classes of special functions is of the hypergeometric type. It includes all classical hypergeometric functions such as the well-known Gaussian hypergeometric functions, the Bessel, Macdonald, Legendre, Whittaker, Kummer, Tricomi and Wright functions, the generalized hypergeometric functions ?Fq, Meijer's G-function, Fox's H-function, etc.Application of the new special functions allows one to increase considerably the number of problems whose solutions are found in a closed form, to examine these solutions, and to investigate the relationships between different classes of the special functions. This book deals with the theory and applications of generalized associated Legendre functions of the first and the second kind, Pm, n?(z) and Qm, n?(z), which are important representatives of the hypergeometric functions. They occur as generalizations of classical Legendre functions of the first and the second kind respectively. The authors use various methods of contour integration to obtain important properties of the generalized associated Legnedre functions as their series representations, asymptotic formulas in a neighborhood of singular points, zero properties, connection with Jacobi functions, Bessel functions, elliptic integrals and incomplete beta functions. The book also presents the theory of factorization and composition structure of integral operators associated with the generalized associated Legendre function, the fractional integro-differential properties of the functions Pm, n?(z) and Qm, n?(z), the classes of dual and triple integral equations associated with the function Pm, n-1/2+i?(chà) etc.
Book Synopsis Table of Integrals, Series, and Products by : I. S. Gradshteyn
Download or read book Table of Integrals, Series, and Products written by I. S. Gradshteyn and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 1207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Table of Integrals, Series, and Products provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of integrals, series, and products. This book provides a comprehensive table of integrals. Organized into 17 chapters, this book begins with an overview of elementary functions and discusses the power of binomials, the exponential function, the logarithm, the hyperbolic function, and the inverse trigonometric function. This text then presents some basic results on vector operators and coordinate systems that are likely to be useful during the formulation of many problems. Other chapters consider inequalities that range from basic algebraic and functional inequalities to integral inequalities and fundamental oscillation and comparison theorems for ordinary differential equations. This book discusses as well the important part played by integral transforms. The final chapter deals with Fourier and Laplace transforms that provides so much information about other integrals. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians, engineers, scientists, and research workers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Methods for Physicists, Third Edition provides an advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate study in physical science, focusing on the mathematics of theoretical physics. This edition includes sections on the non-Cartesian tensors, dispersion theory, first-order differential equations, numerical application of Chebyshev polynomials, the fast Fourier transform, and transfer functions. Many of the physical examples provided in this book, which are used to illustrate the applications of mathematics, are taken from the fields of electromagnetic theory and quantum mechanics. The Hermitian operators, Hilbert space, and concept of completeness are also deliberated. This book is beneficial to students studying graduate level physics, particularly theoretical physics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the dramatic growth in the availability of powerful computer resources, the EM community lacks a comprehensive text on the computational techniques used to solve EM problems. The first edition of Numerical Techniques in Electromagnetics filled that gap and became the reference of choice for thousands of engineers, researchers, and students. This third edition of the bestselling text reflects the continuing increase in awareness and use of numerical techniques and incorporates advances and refinements made in recent years. Most notable among these are the improvements made to the standard algorithm for the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and treatment of absorbing boundary conditions in FDTD, finite element, and transmission-line-matrix methods. The author also has added a chapter on the method of lines. Numerical Techniques in Electromagnetics with MATLAB®, Third Edition continues to teach readers how to pose, numerically analyze, and solve EM problems, to give them the ability to expand their problem-solving skills using a variety of methods, and to prepare them for research in electromagnetism. Now the Third Edition goes even further toward providing a comprehensive resource that addresses all of the most useful computation methods for EM problems and includes MATLAB code instead of FORTRAN.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Spherical Array Processing by : Boaz Rafaely
Download or read book Fundamentals of Spherical Array Processing written by Boaz Rafaely and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-18 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of spherical microphone arrays. It is written for graduate students, researchers and engineers who work with spherical microphone arrays in a wide range of applications. The first two chapters provide the reader with the necessary mathematical and physical background, including an introduction to the spherical Fourier transform and the formulation of plane-wave sound fields in the spherical harmonic domain. The third chapter covers the theory of spatial sampling, employed when selecting the positions of microphones to sample sound pressure functions in space. Subsequent chapters present various spherical array configurations, including the popular rigid-sphere-based configuration. Beamforming (spatial filtering) in the spherical harmonics domain, including axis-symmetric beamforming, and the performance measures of directivity index and white noise gain are introduced, and a range of optimal beamformers for spherical arrays, including beamformers that achieve maximum directivity and maximum robustness, and the Dolph-Chebyshev beamformer are developed. The final chapter discusses more advanced beamformers, such as MVDR and LCMV, which are tailored to the measured sound field.
