The farm of David Tomlinson is situated on the Ridge road, half a mile west of the Village of Gaines, Orleans county. When first occupied in 1814 the ground was covered by forest trees of large growth, many being three and four feet in diameter, and the stumps of two, specially noted as standing over a mile north of the ridge, measured.
