Book Synopsis A Survey of the Principles and Practice of Wave Guides by : L. G. H. Huxley
Download or read book A Survey of the Principles and Practice of Wave Guides written by L. G. H. Huxley and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-02-04 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1947, this book was written to provide an introductory survey of the developments in electromagnetic waves. Although the propagation of electromagnetic waves in metal tubes - wave-guides - had been studied for over fifty years prior to the publication of this book, the subject was primarily of theoretical interest. The treatment in this book reflects the movement away from the theoretical to a more practical interest in waves during the war, with the development of the first micro-wave radar equipment in 1940-1. The first six chapters are based on courses on microwave techniques, which were given during the war at the Radar School of the Telecommunications Research Establishment, whilst chapter seven is a mathematical treatment of the subject. This book will be of great value to scholars of the history of physics and electromagnetics.

Book Synopsis Problems in Electronics with Solutions by : F. A. Benson
Download or read book Problems in Electronics with Solutions written by F. A. Benson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many changes have been made in this edition, first to the nomenclature so that the book is in agreement with the International System of Units (S. I. ) and secondly to the circuit diagrams so that they conform to B. S. S. 3939. The book has been enlarged and now has 546 problems. Much more emphasis has been given to semiconductor devices and transistor circuits, additional topics and references for further reading have been introduced, some of the original problems and solutions have been taken out and several minor modifications and corrections have been made. It could be argued that thermionic-valve circuits should not have been mentioned since valves are no longer considered important by most electronic designers except possibly for very high power or voltage applications. Some of the original problems on valves and valve circuits have been retained, however, for completeness because the material is still present in many syllabuses and despite the advent and prolification of solid-state devices in recent years the good old-fashioned valve looks like being in existence for a long time. There are still some topics readers may expect to find included which have had to be omitted; others have had less space devoted to them than one would have liked. A new feature of this edition is that some problems with answers, given at the end of each chapter, are left as student exercises so the solutions are not included. The author wishes to thank his colleagues Professor P. N.
Book Synopsis Foundations of Electrical Engineering by : K. Simonyi
Download or read book Foundations of Electrical Engineering written by K. Simonyi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 865 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foundations of Electrical Engineering covers the fundamental ideas and basic laws in electrical engineering. This book is organized into five parts encompassing 24 chapters. Part I provides an overview of the Maxwell's equation and its significance in electrical engineering. Part II deals first with the determination of static and steady electric fields. This part also discusses the solution of Laplace's equation, boundary value problems, the concept of capacity, and magnetic field. Parts III and IV explore the laws of network analysis and synthesis, as well as the basic principles and applications of electromagnetic waves. These parts also describe the main features of classical electrodynamics and its application to problems of electrical engineering. Part V highlights the combined contributions of Maxwell's equations and the laws of mechanics in the subject field. Electrical engineers, and electrical engineering teachers and students will find this book invaluable.
Book Synopsis Seismic Diffraction by : Tijmen Jan Moser
Download or read book Seismic Diffraction written by Tijmen Jan Moser and published by SEG Books. This book was released on 2016-06-30 with total page 823 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of diffraction imaging to complement the seismic reflection method is rapidly gaining momentum in the oil and gas industry. As the industry moves toward exploiting smaller and more complex conventional reservoirs and extensive new unconventional resource plays, the application of the seismic diffraction method to image sub-wavelength features such as small-scale faults, fractures and stratigraphic pinchouts is expected to increase dramatically over the next few years. “Seismic Diffraction” covers seismic diffraction theory, modeling, observation, and imaging. Papers and discussion include an overview of seismic diffractions, including classic papers which introduced the potential of diffraction phenomena in seismic processing; papers on the forward modeling of seismic diffractions, with an emphasis on the theoretical principles; papers which describe techniques for diffraction mathematical modeling as well as laboratory experiments for the physical modeling of diffractions; key papers dealing with the observation of seismic diffractions, in near-surface-, reservoir-, as well as crustal studies; and key papers on diffraction imaging.
