Book excerpt: The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank, EXIM Bank, or the Bank), an independent federal government agency, is the official export credit agency of the United States. It helps finance U.S. exports of manufactured goods and services, with the objective of contributing to the employment of U.S. workers, primarily in circumstances when alternative financing is not available. This book was released on 1989-01-01 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International trade has grown a great deal since the Second World War. This development would not have been possible if exporters had not increasingly offered credits to finance their deliveries. Supplier credits as well as buyer credits are becoming more and more significant; the securing of export credits through some kind of guarantee, collateral and export credit insurance has become a key factor in the world debt situation today, not only for exporters and importers, export financing banks and specialized financing institutions, but also for export credit agencies as well as for the national and international authorities. compiled by a practitioner over some 15 years of international experience in order to give assistance to other practitioners in the export trade, the export financing and the credit insurance business. It is the first dictionary publicly available which covers the specific terms of export credit insurance. As well as covering the traditional techniques it also reflects new developments in export trade, export financing and also private and public export credit insurance in recent years up to the end of 1988. Terms are given in English, German and French which are the languages most widely used in the world of international trade and financing.

Book Synopsis The Evolution of Economic Development in Africa by : Francis K. Mbroh
Download or read book The Evolution of Economic Development in Africa written by Francis K. Mbroh and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-11 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the theoretical framework of the trade-growth and structural transformation-growth nexuses, the book examines the evolution of African (goods and service) trade in terms of value and share of global commerce relative to other regions during the period 1948–2017. It also identifies and discusses discernible changes in the composition and structure of African exports and imports between 1995 and 2015 and their implications for economic development in Africa. The study attributes Africa's laggard trade performance during the period primarily to sub-optimal macroeconomic policies and lack of bold export development policies and initiatives, among other factors. It also offers an incisive discussion of several inhibitions to the structural transformation of African exports and imports, including lack of finance, globalization, tariff, and non-tariff measures in global markets. The discussion of the evolution of African trade during the period 1948–2017 based on statistics and publications of international organizations, including the UNCTAD, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank, among others, is the first of its kind in terms of scope and depth of review of African trade. The analyses of cross-border trade during 1948–2017 and their implications for Africa’s economic development prospects constitute a useful reference material for academics and students of African and development studies and African and international policymakers.
