Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This literary critical study counters the usual tendency to segregate Southern literature from African American literary studies. Noting that William Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor are classified as Southern writers, whereas Zora Neale Hurston and Richard Wright are considered black authors, Timothy P. Caron argues for an integrated study of the South's literary culture. He shows that the interaction of Southern religion and race binds these four writers together. Caron broadens our understanding of Southern literature to include both white and African American voices. Analyzing O'Connor's Wise Blood, Faulkner's Light in August, Hurston's Moses, Man of the Mountain, and Wright's Uncle Tom's Children, Caron shows that these writers share an intertwined concern for issues of race and religion. These two significant components of Southern culture form the intertextual network that binds together such seemingly disparate texts. These authors not only interact among themselves in acknowledged and unacknowledged ways, but also with the South's discursive practices. Most particularly, Caron sees common struggles over the Word, as he investigates how these writers use the Bible in their understandings of race and religion in the American South. While all four authors argue for the centrality of the Bible in both the black and white Southern experience, each offers a different view of how this iconic text has shaped Southern culture and its literature.

In addition, many young people today fail to live up to their potential or even attempt to achieve their dreams due to lack of confidence in their abilities that often results from not being given permission to be and develop who they truly are. In THE NEW GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP, the authors gives outright that permission, and shares practical steps, inspiring stories and anecdotes, helpful principles, and uncommon truths in the nurturing of those innate qualities that will help young people increase their value, excel and stand out from the crowd.

Book excerpt: In this day in time, when we see changes in nature and countries, I wish to ask a question of you, has God changed his mind about the idea of a Holy nation of priests? Have we as Christians replaced the Jews as God's chosen people? Does God still require offertory sacrifices? The changing climate of nations and people today is so dramatic, it is disconcerting. It is hard to believe from our past that we could have ever moved so far in this direction. We no longer want God involved in any of our lives. The word of men or nations, whether written or verbal, means absolutely nothing. Those places where God has been Memorialize for generations, we want Him removed. Jesus said that this time would come. In years past, men of God preached that it is Holiness or Hell, but we see in today's society, we do not wish to hear hard things to live by. Many abandon churches, doctrines and God, because it interferes with their lifestyle. I asked you, O’ man have God changed? Is the idea of a priestly walk still required by God? We hope to answer these questions in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the World Library of Educationalists series, international experts compile career-long collections of what they judge to be their finest pieces – extracts from books, key articles, salient research findings, major theoretical and practical contributions – so the world can read them in a single manageable volume. Readers will be able to follow the themes and strands and see how their work contributes to the development of the field. Spanning Mel Ainscow’s accomplished 30 year international career in education, the texts in this book trace his efforts to find ways of fostering more equitable forms of education. This has involved a series of struggles as he has experimented with different approaches - in a variety of contexts - to find new possibilities for responding to learner diversity. Over the years this has related to a variety of headline themes, starting from special education, through to integration, on to inclusive education, and then, more recently, educational equity. The readings have been chosen to illustrate the changes that have occurred in Ainscow’s thinking and practices and a short introduction is provided for each chapter that is intended to help readers to understand the significance of what is presented and how this relates to other chapters in the book. The writings in this text reinforce the idea that the promotion of equity in schools is essentially a social process that has to occur within particular contexts.

This is not because he/she is deficient of the essence of divinity, no, but because he/she lacks the needed knowledge by choice or by ignorance to surmount them. God sees beyond the thick walls, beyond the dark nights, beyond the tempest, and beyond the emptiness of all forms of obstacles that scare your upward movement toward him. For you to function like God, you must be a carrier of His power, and this you already have. How to unleash the power of God in you is the focus of the Holy Spirit in this book. Walking in Divine Power is the Spirit manual for dominion and authority.
