Book Synopsis An Introduction to the Theory of Multipliers by : Ronald Larsen
Download or read book An Introduction to the Theory of Multipliers written by Ronald Larsen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I first considered writing a book about multipliers, it was my intention to produce a moderate sized monograph which covered the theory as a whole and which would be accessible and readable to anyone with a basic knowledge of functional and harmonic analysis. I soon realized, however, that such a goal could not be attained. This realization is apparent in the preface to the preliminary version of the present work which was published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Volume 105, and is even more acute now, after the revision, expansion and emendation of that manuscript needed to produce the present volume. Consequently, as before, the treatment given in the following pages is eclectric rather than definitive. The choice and presentation of the topics is certainly not unique, and reflects both my personal preferences and inadequacies, as well as the necessity of restricting the book to a reasonable size. Throughout I have given special emphasis to the func tional analytic aspects of the characterization problem for multipliers, and have, generally, only presented the commutative version of the theory. I have also, hopefully, provided too many details for the reader rather than too few.

Book Synopsis Modern Methods in Operator Theory and Harmonic Analysis by : Alexey Karapetyants
Download or read book Modern Methods in Operator Theory and Harmonic Analysis written by Alexey Karapetyants and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume gathers selected, peer-reviewed papers from the "Modern Methods, Problems and Applications of Operator Theory and Harmonic Analysis VIII" (OTHA 2018) conference, which was held in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, in April 2018. The book covers a diverse range of topics in advanced mathematics, including harmonic analysis, functional analysis, operator theory, function theory, differential equations and fractional analysis – all fields that have been intensively developed in recent decades. Direct and inverse problems arising in mathematical physics are studied and new methods for solving them are presented. Complex multiparameter objects that require the involvement of operators with variable parameters and functional spaces, with fractional and even variable exponents, make these approaches all the more relevant. Given its scope, the book will especially benefit researchers with an interest in new trends in harmonic analysis and operator theory, though it will also appeal to graduate students seeking new and intriguing topics for further investigation.

Download or read book Contributions in Mathematical Physics written by S. Twareque Ali and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-08-15 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Gerard G. Emch has been one of the pioneers of the C-algebraic approach to quantum and classical statistical mechanics. In a prolific scientific career, spanning nearly five decades, Professor Emch has been one of the creative influences in the general area of mathematical physics. The present volume is a collection of tributes, from former students, colleagues and friends of Professor Emch, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The articles featured here are a small yet representative sample of the breadth and reach of some of the ideas from mathematical physics. It is also a testimony to the impact that Professor Emch's work has had on several generations of mathematical physicists as well as to the diversity of mathematical methods used to understand them.

Book Synopsis Lp-Theory of Cylindrical Boundary Value Problems by : Tobias Nau
Download or read book Lp-Theory of Cylindrical Boundary Value Problems written by Tobias Nau and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-06-18 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tobias Nau addresses initial boundary value problems in cylindrical space domains with the aid of modern techniques from functional analysis and operator theory. In particular, the author uses concepts from Fourier analysis of functions with values in Banach spaces and the operator-valued functional calculus of sectorial operators. He applies abstract results to concrete problems in cylindrical space domains such as the heat equation subject to numerous boundary conditions and equations arising from fluid dynamics.
