Book Synopsis Community Mediation by : Karen Grover Duffy
Download or read book Community Mediation written by Karen Grover Duffy and published by Guilford Press. This book was released on 1991-04-26 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years the mediation movement has seen tremendous growth with significant advances being made in both research and practice. Despite these advances, reseachers and practitioners have remained relatively isolated from one another. Bridging the gap, COMMUNITY MEDIATION is dedicated to the mutual education of both researchers and mediators. It makes the findings of research accessible to practitioners and the issues of concern to practice available to researchers. Thus, this handbook affords researchers an excellent opportunity to learn more about actual techniques and enables practitioners to benefit from the latest research in the field.

Download or read book ROMED1 Trainer’s Handbook written by Calin Rus and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2016-04-01 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general aim of ROMED1 is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the work of school, health, employment and community mediators, with a view to supporting better communication and co-operation between Roma and public institutions (school, health-care providers, employment offices, local authorities, etc.). The ROMED1 trainer’s handbook was developed over five years of implementation of the ROMED1 programme, and is generally intended for trainers who followed a course of training for trainers in the framework of the programme. However, it can also be used by organisations − governmental or non-governmental − as a basis for new or adapted curricula for those working in a mediation context with or within Roma communities. It contains the key information trainers need to give a training course based on the ROMED1 methodology and on the human rights-based approach. The content of the materials should be adapted to the specific context of each country and to the profile of the mediators.

Download or read book Moving Toward a Just Peace written by Jan Marie Fritz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-18 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mediation, the facilitated discussion of disputes and conflicts, is a flexible approach that can be used at all levels of intervention to move us toward a global peace that is both inclusive and fair. This volume, edited by Jan Marie Fritz, brings together mediators, scholar-practitioners, and a veteran diplomat to discuss the life and times of mediation in very different settings. The 14 chapters include three essays about culture, creativity, and models/theories/approaches. And there are ten chapters about practice: community mediation, mediation by police, special education mediation; interventions on behalf of widows in Nigeria; capacity-building work in Burundi; mediation in Israel; the creative facilitation of meetings; community conferencing; UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (Women and Peace and Security) and the role of civil society organizations in peacebuilding. This volume discusses the expanding roles - from prevention through societal transformation - assumed by mediators and the urgent need for mediators working at different intervention levels to learn from each other. This volume is a must read for scholars, researchers, policymakers, civil society representatives and practitioners with interests in effective dispute and conflict intervention. It particularly is recommended for those managing dispute and conflict intervention processes.

This Teach Myself manual is convenient: You may study the lessons at any time. It is flexible: You may study at your own pace. In addition, there may not be trainings available in your area. This Mediation Training Program provides six 2-hour training sessions. The methods provided have been thoroughly tested and proven by the authors, who have been mediating and providing mediation training to youth and adults for over 28 years. This method has a documented record of accomplishment for improving relations and reducing conflict and its many ramifications. Mediation is a conflict resolution process that empowers the disputants by letting them solve their own problem with the assistant of mediators. Mediation is an effective alternative to bullying, fighting, verbal violence, and social isolation. Mediation reduces punishment, suspensions, expulsions, physical damage, emotional damage, and property damage. Mediation is an investment in the future. The foundation of this mediation process is a new 5-step model that strategically assists the mediators and disputing parties in achieving resolution and success.
