What he would have us to do, under the melancholy state of things that he depicts, we have in vain endeavored to ascertain from his pages. The dark com plexion of the title page, colours the whole book. Protestants, and Roman Catholics, Clergy, and Laymen, men, and women, all share alike. All are rated soundly, for not doing something which the author would set them at, though he hardly seems to know what it is, himself. If there be any thing he recommends, we should suppose it was to fill the pockets with money, and rush from house to house, among the poorer classes, distributing broad-cast, just as people wished for it. What would be the result of such a day's labour - where the money would be found (in many cases) before the next morning - we will not stop to inquire.
