Book excerpt: The Internet of Things (IoT) is used in the Supply chain management (SCM) systems to respond to the globalization of complex and dynamic markets and competitiveness in various supply chain scopes. Despite the current buzz about IoT and its role in the supply chain, there is not enough empirical data or extensive expertise to guide its implementation. Therefore, this paper addresses the ambiguity of assessing the performance of the IoT based supply chain by integrating plithogenic set with both Best-Worst (BWM) and Vlse Kriterijumska Optimizacija Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) methods in a decision-making framework tailored for this field. The framework is based on 23 criteria that measure different aspects of the performance. The performance of the framework is assessed according to the plithogenic set theory and to the neutrosophic set theory using a case study of comparing the performance of IoT implantation with the SC of five e-commerce companies using three experts. The case study shows that the proposed framework has more consideration of the contradiction degree of each criteria to improve the accuracy of the evaluation results.

Book excerpt: This special issue reflects the impact of neutrosophic theory in Latin America, especially after creating the Latin American Association of Neutrosophic Sciences. Among the areas of publication most addressed in the region are found in the interrelation of social sciences and neutrosophy, presenting outstanding results in these research areas. The main objective of this special issue is to divulge the impact publication related to the Neutrosophic theory and explore new areas of research and application in the region. The SI reflects the influence of the neutrosophic publications in Latin America by opening new research areas mainly related to Neutrosophic Statistics, Plithogeny, and NeutroAlgebra. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning the incorporation of authors from new countries in the region, such as Paraguay, Uruguay, and Panama, to have authors in total from 15 countries, 12 of them from the Latin American region.

Book excerpt: Nowadays, the economic crisis affecting the countries makes more important the selection process of investment projects. Such is the case of Ecuador where the Multi-annual Public Investment Plan 2017-2021 establishes indicative amounts of public investment that are projected to be executed annually to achieve each of the nine strategic objectives of the National Development Plan that pay tribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. This plan has certain weaknesses that may not allow an effective and efficient choice at the same time. Which entails a scenario of uncertainty for the Ecuadorian investment process. So we dare to say that a classic selection of investment projects is not suitable. Therefore, there is a need for a decisionmaking support tool that allows the most effective and optimal selection of the projects of greater importance and scope based on multiple, specifically defined criteria. Thus, the main objective of this research is to develop a selection process for investment projects based on multicriteria decision methods in a plithogenic environment. If an adequate method is determined for the selection of an investment project in an environment of uncertainty based on Plithogeny, it will be possible to provide an effective tool that optimizes the decision-making process. For this, the plithogenic versions of the AHP and TOPSIS methods will be adopted.

Book excerpt: In this paper a Plithogenic approach to Fuzzy cognitive map has been proposed to analyse the impact of novel corona virus.Contradiction degree is an advantageous feature of Plithogenic sets which highly deals with the uncertainty and it substantially increases the accuracy of results. In this research, a new approach is proposed to accumulate the opinions of experts.Using contradiction degree between opinions of experts and plithogenicoperator, the connection matrices obtained from distinct experts are aggregated to improvise a degree of uncertainty. An Analysis on covid-19 (causes, spread and precaution) is done based on the proposed methodology.

Book excerpt: The theory of plithogeny developed by Smarandache is described as a more generalized form of representing sets of different nature such as crisp, fuzzy, intuitionistic and neutrosophic. Plithogenic set comprises degree of appurtenance and contradiction degree with respect only to the dominant attribute. This paper introduces extended plithogenic sets comprising degrees of appurtenance and contradiction with respect to both dominant and recessive attributes. The extension of the 5-tuple Plithogenic sets to a 7- tuple plithogenic sets helps in developing a more comprehensive kind of Plithogenic sociogram. The newly developed plithogenic sets and its implications in Plithogenic sociogram is validated by the decision making problem on food processing industries. The obtained results using extended plithogenic sets are more promising in comparison to the conventional plithogenic sets. The proposed kind of plithogenic sets will benefit the decision makers to make optimal decisions based on both optimistic and pessimistic approaches.

Book excerpt: Decision making is a comprehensive process comprising of uncertainties that shall be handled with the right selection of decision making approaches. Selection of the optimal alternatives and the best criteria is the expected outcome of any decision making strategy. This paper proposes a decision making model based on the plithogenic pythagorean best –worst method which is an extension of the multi-valued neutrosophic approach of BWM. The efficiency of the developed model is determined with the example pertaining to the optimal selection of the teaching methods based on the attribute values or the sub criteria and it is also compared with the neutrosophic approach. In the proposed model plithogenic and pythagorean neutrosophic sets are used for representing the expert’s opinion.

Book excerpt: The main objective of this special issue is to divulge the applicability of the Neutrosophic Theory and to explore the possibilities and advantages of neutrosophic tools, through both the presentation of thorough research and case studies in solving social problems in Latin America. The best presentations discussed at the III International Congress of Educational Research and University Innovation, turned into papers, show us the capacity for socialization of neutrosophic knowledge and its link with this science of validation and consolidation of scientific knowledge. This publication with authors from 11 countries that we place in the hands of the international scientific community, constitutes an example of how in Latin America the Neutrosophy is contributing to complex solutions based on the results of scientific research carried out by teachers and students committed to the social responsibility of continuing to progress for the benefit of humanity.

Book excerpt: Education in the history of humanity briefly establishes the general characteristics of education over time. Throughout life, the student goes through more than 18 years in the classrooms, because education has rigorously changed throughout history, as a result of the evolution of some universities during the processes carried out until changing categories and an improvement in the evaluated indicators. On the other hand, governments and leading entities of education speak of the application of standards of educational quality, the efficiency of the educational system, and sustainability of financing and quality of spending to ensure that students develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes in specific situations, in different contexts for solving problems and interacting with the main dimensions, with their factors or sub-dimensions, limitations or critical nodes and challenges of education. This study analyzes the effects that affect educational development through the neutrosophic statistical study with the application of plithogenic sets.
